Default Am I getting screwed by clearcorners.com?

Does anyone have any experience with this company. I paid up front (stupid, stupid stupid!!!) for a set of custom color matched headlights. They were supposed to be done over one month ago. The part that I am really pissed about is that everytime I contact them I am basically told they are "almost ready".

This has been going on for a month. For all I know, they haven't even begun any work.

Is this company legit. or did I get totally scammed here?

The company is DEFINITELY legit. But, I don't know what's taking them so long.

I don't remember the specifics but when I ordered from them it took 3 or 4 times longer than I was quoted. You'll be please once you receive them - the workmanship is first rate.

If they quote a time frame then it should be done or at least within reason, if not they should give you a discount for your time. I am sure they would be pissed if they sent you a product but you didnt give them their money until 3 months later.

Good point. I'll approach this with them.

No problem, allow me to assist....

Vijay, your lamps were shipped out today, tracking information was forwarded to you via e-mail.

Sorry for the delay, but we do not believe in rushing projects -- haste makes waste. For those of you wondering, Vijay is a very nice guy and has been a pleasure to work with. However, in January I was ill and when I returned to work, I noticed imperfections in the paint of one of the headlamp bezels. The assemblies needed to be re-sprayed. We also had a delay with our clear lenses.

Order was placed in December, payment was received on 12/20. We *estimated* product completion mid-January, but with the holidays and me being ill -- things got delayed. As explained via e-mail to Vijay, we are recovering from backlog.

We have nothing to hide, we are a small business and take pride in our products and operations. We have a retail office in Burbank, CA -- anyone interested can e-mail us and we will set aside a time to meet, we have plenty of Z33, G35, and various other products on display for customers to see. We dont list our address or our phone number because like the A-Team, we enjoy being discrete and dont like being bothered by Civic and Accord owners wanting projectors for their phat ryde. We spend too much time working on nice projects and dont like waste time with illegal junk modifications that are worthless and a liability. (Not that the Civic or Accord are bad cars, but most people know that most of these commuter cars are poorly modified with mass-produced products and sport APC styling.[/b]

Anyway, I am sorry this ended up being a topic on the forum for everyone to read, but atleast the pictures do some justice for those of you who love our products.

Vijay, best of luck to you with your new headlamps.. feel free to call or write if you need further assistance.

Respectfully,
Mike / ClearCorners.Com

I noticed that the guys with cleared headlights "baked in oven" get bad condensation. How do you guys prevent that once its been opened?

Now that's good customer service. I was getting nervous about this as I had plans for next winter to get the headlight conversion and LED clear reflector strips.

Talk to you guys later this year.

Yes, what Mike has said is right. He's a good guy. I got all my lights done by Clearcorners.com. He doesn't rush his work so most likely you're not going to get your lights the next day but it is beautiful when he finishes it. Also be aware of some of the things going on in the west coast. When my lights were being done it was around SEMA time so he had mad things to do. Also, he told me that the wait times can be lengthy.

Not to mention, for those of you who watch the news.. socal has been hit HARD this year with super heavy rains. This has caused a lot of ruckus out here, from closed roads, flooding, etc. Again, these are not excuses.. these are facts.

The work we do is very detail oriented and intricate. Some feel its okay to rush jobs, but in almost all cases rushed work ends up ruining projects. We work on expensive lights and expensive cars because we take pride in knowing that we rarely (very rarely) make mistakes. However, mistakes can (and do) happen. The other week a Supra tail light project we've been working on was damaged. The lights were VERY close to completion, they were getting ready to be sealed. Once sealed, the lights would be ready to ship. This is after over ONE YEAR worth of work, retail price on this tail light conversion is almost $1925/pair. The tail lights cracked and the entire project became a flop, now we're rebuilding them from scratch. Yes, the tail lights were used and old, so there's a good chance they were more brittle. But, the bottom line is that the project is a loss and needs to be reworked.

(here is the actual tail light, if anyone is curious: http://clearcorners.com/products/toyota/supra7/R_full1/)

Anyway, I only share this insight because I want people to understand how dedicated we are to the work we do. We take pride in being a small, detail oriented company.

Mike / ClearCorners.Com

ps: We have core sets of EVERY light for the G35 sedan, coupe, 350Z, and various other popular cars. Should anyone ever want to purchase, simply shoot us an e-mail and we'll do our best to assist with your project(s). E-mail responses can sometimes be slow, but we always save our emails and respond as long as you leave us your full contact info. Take care!

I was never upset about how long the project was taking. I realize very well that quality work takes time and unexpected things do come up. My ONLY gripe was that each time I called I was given the impression that the project would be completed within the next couple of days. When I called in the middle of January, the original estimated completion date, if I had simply been told that the project was going to take another 5-6weeks, I would have been fine with that. But that's not what I was told. I was told "everything is on schedule". "Just a couple more days". "Everything should go out in a day or two", etc. I really felt backed into a corner.....I had paid in full, I live 3000 miles from the company, and had no idea whatsoever when the project was actually going to be completed. I was trying to schedule other work on my car also around the complettion of the lamps.
Anyway, my public apology to Mike for the times I might have taken a slightly harsh tone with him....and yes, the workmanship looks first rate. I will post pics on the car in a couple of weeks.

Just fyi, I had my lights and sidemarkers done by clearcorners.com, and honestly it is one of my favorite mods. I experienced the same delays you are referring to, and even getting in contact with Mike is difficult. Would I do it again? DEFINITELY!

Just a word of caution to anyone that wants to have this done... It will take longer than you expect, it will be hard to get in touch with the company, it will get you very upset, and when you get your lights....

You will be a very happy customer!
