Default Hard wiring Passport

I saw a post somewhere that said that they had their radar detector hard wired by their Nissan dealership. Does anyone know if the dealerships will do this? I would like to hard wire my Passport but don't have the confidence to do it myself.

this is the link to install. i hardwired mine to the mirror with a reg. phone cord. no probs at all. I dont think the dealer would do it and if they do......dont waste ur money at the dealer. plus they might scratch the interior, which my dealer did when they changed my radio out.

yeah I agree with HCIC some dealers are retards when it comes to taking apart the car. They dont care and will scratch up your car. Your MUCH better off doing it yourself. Its not that hard and youll learn some stuff too. IF you get stuck somewhere post it in the Audio Video Security GPS Radar forum and someone should be able to help you out.

Thanks guys. I'm very nervous when it comes to electrical stuff...but if I can do it myself, that would be great. It would be cool to learn to do some of this stuff myself!

It really is very easy. You can go to the mirror for power or just go down to the fusebox like it did.

Here are some pics. The one with the red line shows the path of your wire down to the fusebox.

Livn...
This is so easy. I did mine in about 15 minutes.
Part of owning a car is being able to do some of this work. Plus you get the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself.

Do you have a Passport Bracket that attaches to your mirror?
Here is a link https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....light=MIKE3348

Follow Bonz' pictures (even though he has a V1 and not a Passport.) For the passport: go buy a 10 foot phone cord (rj11) and start feeding it along the path Bonz shows.
Cut off the other end at the fuse box and attach the green to the fuse and the red to the body (scratch off some paint). There are two other wires in the bundle. Just snip them off and put a little electrical tape on the ends.

Bonz... what are the other two items you have plugged into your fuse box?

i had mine hardwired at circuit city. they cut off the cigarette adaptor, wire the fuse, and hide the wire. it cost 25 bucks, and it comes with a warranty for the life of the car.

When that pic was taken, I had only my XM satellite radio. That's what that wire is. Now, I also have my ZR3 Laser Diffuser and my lighted up door sills hooked in there too.
