Grounding kits are a good way to "bond" with your Z.

Bat's overlays while nice and cheap, are a good way to want to smash your Z or something else in anger.

Congrats on the car.

** and yet another shameless plug **

Type-R sticker. I know that it says "Integra," but the sticker is good for 20rwhp (50whp for front wheel drive cars).

$50 shipped

My first mod, Insaneamine's grounding kit. I think the next was a K&N air filter which I ended giving away after getting a popcharger. Here's what I would do with $1,000 +/- a few hundred:

1. Grounding kit $75
2. JWT Popcharger $100
3. Lightweight Pulley $200 + installation
4. Testpipes with resonators or highflow cats $400 + installation or, Borla TD exhaust at $700 plus installation.
5. Tint $125

For value, the best performance gains are testpipes/hf cats. The best sound gains include the Borla TD and Popcharger. The best for appearance is a nice 20% tint.

When you're ready for the bigger things, I'd suggest suspension for performance. Speakers for sound. And, wheels for appearance. FI, big brake kits, body kits I'd save for last. Have fun.

Going to be 16 years old and Mommy/Daddy are buying you a Z...

Call it envy, call it jealousy, call it whatever you want. I think its UNCALLED for. And theres no way your minimum wage is going to be able to pay the minimum payment every month. And I don't want you or you guys to think i'm just being a jerk because I didn't have it "as good" as she apparently does, i'm glad I had it the way I did, it taught me principles in life. Getting a brand new car at 16 isn't what I call a smart move. But hey, to each his own I guess. They apparently can afford to buy her a $27K + car, they can afford to fix the damages she'll cause.

This stuff honestly just drives me insane. Perfect example:

My sister turned 16 a year ago. We didn't trust her with a car, so my mom delayed the license process as long as possible. Finally she just turned 17 this past March. She felt her license was a right, not a privledge, so my mom caved, and got her her license, and let her have my old 94 Grand Am (with 140k miles, still ran fine/in good working condition.) Within the first week she had it, she ran out of gas, slid in a parking lot and broke the right front wheel/strut while yanking all the body moldings off the right side, and she blew a tire, and proceeded to drive on the flat for about 10 minutes till she found a gas station. Now that her 94 is all raggedy, she feels she deserves a 05 VW Beetle convertible.

Hope you're not like her..

Your dad was nice enough to even purchase you an awesome car that costs 30 thousand dollars!!! and you dont even appreciate it enough to just be happy and drive it stock your allready talking about how ur gonna mod the hell outa it, im sure your dad will be overjoyed to see how much you dont appreciate an awesome car he bought u. Leave it stock and enjoy it for a while, maybe do some small things but at least show some respect for how much ur dad has graced you with.

If your parents asked you what kind of car you wanted when you were 16 what would you do? You say you're glad you had it the way you did. I'm sure you feel that way now, but back when you were 16 I bet you would've killed to get your parents to buy you a brand new car. No reason to hate on people whose parents want to get them something nice.

yeah, I definately agree on that. If you were offered a 350z or a piece of **** which one would you take? I'm not a spoiled unnappreciative person. I appreciate that my dad bought me something nice like that, but the only reason I want to fix it up is because I want to have some individuality in my car... I want it to be MY car, not like every other damn z on the street.

>>>Quite frankly, I think it's a bit ignorant of you to say that me having a z is uncalled for, My parents aren't going to have me stuck with a piece of **** when they can afford to get me a car like that. My parents taught me principles, and I'm glad that I have it the way I do too, just because I am well off doesn't mean that I haven't been taught principles.
