If its polished aluminum, can't you take it to someone and have them lightly sandblast it to give it the brushed aluminum look?

Of course, the finish could be made to look just about any old way you want. It could be "sand blasted," although sand would probably the worst media... glass beads or other less aggressive media would give a more subtle finish.

If you really want to to look "brushed," then brush it... Scotchbrite or other fibral abrasives would work just fine, and are easy to use.

But, don't forget, after the fuel filler door is "blasted" or "brushed," it will need to be re-anodized (clear, of course) or the surface will oxidize and look pretty cruddy in a very short time.

+1 on more details please.

If you can make it to match the door handles too, that'll be a BIG plus .

can be done, but cost more than chrome. We have done this type of item for hummer H2 gas door. Check out our site http://www.evo-r.net/product/H2/index.htm So shouldn't be too hard to make similar item.

No worries. If the price is cheeper than the current alternative, I'm sure there will be several people out there willing to pay. Also, if you can also design it so there is no necessary body work that needs to be done as well as the use of the remote latch. I think you may have something that will sell pretty good.

Thanks!

Just buy one of the German ones, dupe it in aluminum or brushed stainless.

I have not interest if it looks anything like the hummer gas cap.

I like the extremely smooth lines of the german unit.
I also like the assymetry of the mounting holes and the attachment flanges for the german unit.

This is very true. It has to look similar to the Cobra Gas Cap from Germany. I know you just showed the picture of the H2 cap to show that you can make them but it definitely has to match the car. That H2 cap look good on an H2 but not on the Z.

Default gas cap curved?

Is the gas cap curved in two planes?

What does the inside look like? Can we get a photo of the scratched cobra unit?

Aluminum might scratch easily. If it gets scratched (keyed) is it possible to fix it?

Hey, Adrnln1...

Should you be getting your new fuel filler door pretty soon? Any word on it's arrival date?

Cool

Sorry Guys... no gas door yet... Paul said it would be 4-8 weeks and this week makes 6. I sent him an email yesterday checking if he had an eta, but have not heard back yet.

I promise to give you guys a write-up as soon as I have them in my hands.

Can you elaborate on the fitment issues. We have been assured by Paul that he has done several and they fit well.

Please provide more detail.

Thanks,

Boy, I thought with that price it would fit perfectly. Too much money for fitment issues.
