Question HID kit...any advice?

YO, I just bought a silver Z with about 9,000 miles and was wondering if anyone has the base model and put a HID kit in? Is there any pointers or advice you can give me...such as where to mount the starter and ballast or how to get the headlamp out without breaking anything. Thanks

There are tons of threads about the different types of HID kits do a search and you'll find plenty of info.

Dont know if you found anything yet....

I have aftermarktet HID's for my base, from EagleEye, they have HELLA Ballasts, and are 7000K. Kind of depends on what you are looking for, I want the all around deep purple/blue color given off by the 7K bulbs, from every angle my lights have that color I want, lower bulbs like 4K-6K have a very nice bright white light, and have the purple blue look from head on but from other angles they are white. My 7K's definitely dont light up the ground as bright as a lower K bulb like the 4K-6K, they light it up with white light and makes you see the ground better, but the 7K's light up the same distance, go the same width, just a different color on the ground that doesnt show every single rock and pebble. I can see fine, and drive next to other cars that have stock HID's that are white, their lights do light the ground better, but its not like night and day. But there are those aftermarket kits that are low K that are like sun light on the ground, and are crazy bright! Really depends on what you want, I didnt mind sacrificing the brighter light on the ground for the color I wanted. Something you will have to decide.....good luck!

JWT is the name of the manufacturer (Jim Wolf Technologies) and "popcharger" is a fancy name for an intake designed by them. I wouldn't waste my money on it.

On a side note. I've got Supervision 6000k HID's in my base. I installed and used that kit in my previous 03 Accord and my gf's RSX-S. It's very easy to install and you can get it for just over $250 through www.hid-lights.com . The only problem with the Z is mounting, there is very little room under the hood and with the position of the bulbs, you'll need to remove the front bumper to properly install them.

I have the Naxos HID 6,000K crystal white upgrade kit with a fairly large starter and ballast, will I have to take my bumper off to install them?

If you want a clean install you will need to. Mine had a ballast and a starter as well and there was no where to mount them. Even when you remove your bumper you'll need to be creative and find a place to mount them because of the limited space.

I say there is nothing better than OEM. I would see if forum member Jun is still selling the ones he gets from Japan. I put them in a buddies base and they install with no modification in the OEM location on the headlight and looked just like my OEM HIDs.

I bought a kit from Jun and can vouch for the ease of installation and professional manner in which he does business.

They are worth every penny...
