Default NISMO Bodykit install 12/7 - what do you want to see?

OK, most of my NISMO bodykit is painted and I picked it up from the bodyshop today (OK, yesterday since it's after midnight now). The parts are still rough and the rear spoiler won't be done 'till Monday. I'll be installing the front bumper and sideskirts in the AM tomorrow (Saturday, 12/7) and sending the car to the bodyshop on Monday to get everything colorsanded and buffed out.

I'll be taking pics of the basics during and after the install.
What specific pics would everyone like to see?

Obviously this thread was started late so I will do my best to capture everything as most of you won't see this 'till the parts are already on the car. I won't be taking parts back off the car to photo them once they are installed.

Wish me luck and keep your eyes peeled over the next week.

post pics of the rear skirts...

did your paint guy spray both sides of the pieces (inside and outside)? i would think this is necessary since it is fiberglass-yellow in color and would stand out once installed...

i just hate that it will cover the nismo logo.

He did spray both sides but I didn't bring them home. They were still "cooking" with the spoiler. I guess I left that out of the first post. I only brought home the sills and the front bumper. I was stressing to get them so I could install them on the weekend since the spoiler and rear skirts will be easy to install after work during the week.

But I'll get you those pics Monday'ish.

SD How did you get the kit? May I ask how much you paid for it? Also, can you tell me how much they are charging to paint it for you? I am VERY interested in getting this kit and would like to know all of the above answers so I can arrive at a final dollar figure. Also, I won't be putting them on myself. Can you give me an estimate on how much that would be as well? Thanks!

without speaking for SD....

its gonna cost me right under $4.5K for everything... parts, shipping, painting. if you are not going to install yourself, add another $300-$400 for install.

Wait a second.. That means you paid 2100 dollars for shipping and paint???? The kit is 2400 from japanparts.com ...I would assume painting the kit would be about 500-700 @ most. That's how much I paid for a complete repaint of the left side of my previous MKIV Supra at a very nice shop (That worked on Ferrari's and Lambos for dealerships). That would leave shipping at 1300 dollars??

Im a bit confused by that as well. I had no idea painting was that much! and shipping couldnt have been more than 2-300$ could it? perhaps there were import fees on it?

just trying to think of possible fees to make it so expensive.

I sure hope not. It's $2400 on JapanParts. I would guess about $300 shipping from Japan. Another $500 to paint and like $300 to install. These were just my guesses however.

=$3500 total?

I think the paint and install might be a little more. One shop quoted me $900 just for side skirts, because they specialize in painting high end cars, which I thought was ridiculous. I got another quote for side skirts and rear under spoiler of $650 from another shop which I thought was more reasonable. To paint the whole bumper might be pricey so I am guessing a little over $ 1,000 for paint and install but if I were to take it the first shop I went to they probably would have quoted me over $ 1,500.

$2950 for shipping and insurance. mind you it was air freighted to me. i had it at my house 4 days after I bought it. and no, i didnt request this... its the only way to get it here.

$150 for the credit card surcharge. you could use wire transfer to save that money.

$160 for import taxes and bonding.

$700-800 for painting.

$300-500 for putting the kit on. (which i am going to do myself...)

that is about $4500. i am skipping last step. so about $4000 for me.

I have to say SKiDaZZL's numbers add up just fine. I would not question his costs at all, since I previously owned a VR4 and had a kit on it an as well.

The shipping alone from CA to MD was $390 "ground shipping"
Paint+install ran me $1600. (with a few modifications)

this is why there is a range for install and i passed on it. the shop said they have seen many kits from japan not fit quite right, and required modification. i told him this was from nismo, and basically is the same mold as the factory pieces, but modified on free end.

he said he had a $10K kit from veilside that cost the customer another $2000 in paint/labor due to the poor fitment.

i am going to dry fit mine tonight, just to make sure it will all work fine, then drop the pieces off tomorrow.

i meant 2950 for the kit including shipping and taxes.. not 2950 for just shhipping and taxes.
