JDM turn signals
Does anyone know the specifics on whether our wiring harnesses can run they JDM turn signals (ones under the Z on our front quarter panels) w/o modification? I'm sure it's been done several times, so can anyone shed some light on the difficulty of this procedure? I'd like to just have a dealership do it next time I'm in for a service, will they be able to understand it easily? Any tips? Thanks.
without modification? whats that mean? of course you can go get a wiretap and hook it up. but if your asking if theres some wire lead sitting there waiting for you; probably not... how early you make the connection as in; right by the headlight; or back at the fuse box in the socket... thats up to you; I guess at the socket is the less modification route; but alot more work; youd have to find where that even is
Ok, right, there's certainly going to have to be the hole cut in the fender to put the light in, I was hoping though that the wires could be hooked up right to the fuse box or something, instead of having to put extra strain on your headlights/turn signals/etc. GY-Z - Did you wire it straight into the fuse box ("so i just put on a turn signal and hook it up.." Thanks for the response.
Id be shocked if they didnt operate of the same circuit and fuse on the JDM cards. lots of stuff shares fuses; it doesnt hurt them. ussually anything that shares a line would share a fuse. but they would normally split it off at a harness where its nice and pretty, not just tapped in. you could do either. the harness is probably hidden somewhere near a fuse box though.
Unless you're going to mount some serious light in there I really wouldn't worry about overloading the circuit. Most are capable (at your own risk) of twice the current draw. The turn signals are just a few watts each - 3 or 4 so I wouldn't worry at all.
