Default Modding the Guages?

I was curious if anyone has done any mods to the stock guages. The speedo, tech, etc.

Right now the readouts are orange-ish in color, and the needles on the tach and the speedo are red.

I wanted to see if I could change the color of the displays and also change the needle on the tach and speedo.

Has anyone done this and be able to provide some insight?

Thanks,

Jay

I want to do that sooo bad, but it took acree soooo long that he would have to charge a small fortune to turn any profit. If I could find a company I would be in for certain.

I have replaced guages in the past, but almost always putting the needles back on proves to be impossible, anyone have any tips or problems with those?

hockey - the gauges still work as good as new, and no sticking off the needles or flickering of the LEDs. if you are an avid DIY-er, i recommend this mod.

How did you get the needles put on just right? On most cars they don't just snap into place, plus they need to be in exact same position as before mod.

that is probably the toughest part about the entire project. all i can say is to get them perfect, you will probably re-adjust each needle over 10 times. you have to take pictures of where your gauges are when the car is fully warmed up and sitting at idle. get a full tank of gas. with the tach i just simply put the shift light at 2000rpm, and then held the throttle right where it started to blink. the shift light blinks exactly 500 rpm under what you set, and is on constant at the rpm. so when it started blinking, i would put it on the pin at 1500rpm. took a few tries but finally got it. speedo was the worst part. i have to drive the car in second gear at about 9 mph, and gauge it off of the digital mph and the tach. but sooo worth it.

I don't recomend the speed hut guages they leave nice big holes behind guages, this is so you can install with out removing the needles. They look tacky imo

Acree - You have lots of patience bro, I appreciate all the tips if you have anymore i appreciate anything you can give as I really want to do this mod but really really don't want my guages to be off. Finally do you have to remove guages to put the red leds behind them as I don't want to have to do the needle mess a second time.

Thanks bro

yeah man, the needles have to come all the way off to get to the LEDs. and also i have known about the speedhut gauges but i am NOT impressed. i think they will look like ****. if you look closely, they leave holes for the warning lights, so aside from the huge holes under the needles, you will have little black squares everywhere. also, the EL glow will not provide the true "LED" blue that people are looking for. i want a DEEP deep blue. anyone who has seen a blue led knows what im talking about. the el will probably be a very soft light blue.
