Default Painted calipers on a SB Roadster

Can't detail wheel until paint cures. What do you think about the caliper color? Still not sure about the decal color.

Not to be rude, but I'll say the same thing I always say when I see painted stock calipers -- IMO the stock calipers don't really lend themselves to being painted. They have too much topography, they should have a nice flat surface so they look cleaner.
I don't really want to draw attention to my calipers unless they're on a big brake kit.

It doesn't look bad, but I just prefer the stock metal color as opposed to painted calipers (except for BBK's).

imo, the stocks are so ugly and boring that almost any color is an improvemnt.

Keep the opinions coming...I can take it. I like them painted but never thought I would look like a poser b/c the calipers aren't "big brakes" size (exactly why I didn't choose red/Brembo) I'm open to opinions of those who have been around the mod block. I don't want to look stupid.

The picture isn't to great , so it may look good, but I really don't like it either, maybe you should clear coat it. Its not shinny at all. Also try not to paint the brake pads next time, tape them off and then paint the brakes.

But i agree

Here is one pic of mine after being powdercoated red:

Here is another pic with the JVD sticker on it:

And no, doing them red is not posing, since whoever truly knows their stuff KNOWS these are not performance brakes, and posing for the IGNORANT who cant tell the difference between Brembos and painted OEMs is pointless.

Good point...

I taped off the clips and pads with hand-cut templates. When I pulled them off I got a bad case of the f###-it's and re-shot the whole thing. I think I'll work on cleaning up the pads next weekend. Other than that, I still like it after driving around today.

Funny, before I got the Z, I didn't even know what a caliper was. Only enthusiasts are going to notice (gasp...there are others in the world with no knowledge of this stuff...) I'll just avoid meets and eye contact with other Z owners until I am accepted back into the fold, despite my pecadillos.

A couple people have told me, when getting rotors get either slotted or cross-drilled, but not both. I think maybe it has something to do with structural integrity...

there's a kit you can get on ebay and elsewhere called g-2, iirc. comes with cleaning, paint, hardening components and brushes. lots of diff colors.
pick a COOL place, remove all 4 wheels, clean and paint the calipers, and you're done. i did it in a hot garage on a hot day, and mine started hardening too soon to do the last two as good as the first two.

Thanks powdercoater....I knew drinking like a man would pay off one day!!!

I saw your posts on powder coating your calipers. After the fact, I realized we had all the tools necessary except the spray attachment, (not mentioning the additional oven and a 220 connection.)
