Default Attention All Le Mans Owners

Just in case you didnt know. Duplicolor has come out with a metal flake paint that looks very dang close to the Le Mans color. Here is a pic of it. I am gonna go see if I can find some and do some dress up on the car. What are your thoughts or has anyone used it yet?

My thoughts are that you should use it and then post pics.

I'm thinking engine bay stuff for sure (battery cover/etc). If it turns out good, go from there.

An even better idea. Go to your local body shop supply store. You give them your color code and ask them to premix your car's color into PREVAL 1 pint spray can. Most places will do this. The cost ranges depending on your color 20-30 dollars per spray can. OR ask them to mix the paint into just the jars and go to home depot to buy the PREVAL spray cans. Just dump the paint into the jars and your ready to spray. If you want a perfect match you'll have to spray on clear coat.

Preval spray can with jars: $4.99 home depot
1 pint jar of PPG paint thinned for spray: $10-30
Clear and catalyst hardner PPG paint: $30 (requires 2 preval disposable cans 10 bucks)

1 pint is good for maybe half a bumper. Remember if you primer your parts the lighter the primer the lighter your paint will come out depending on how many coats you spray.
Here's a sexy mechanic with a preval spray can from their website. LOL

^^^ I was going to buy some body shop paint and do it but I was going to get charged from any the range of $60 + for the paint. OK well here is the info on this paint.

It resembles the Le Mans color very closley. The color is called Burnt Copper therefore there is more red than orange in it. It is very close to a perfect match. With me doing pieces that are not directly on the paint it will look the exact same color as the car. I will paint some pics this weekend when I am done doing the things. Peace and chicken grease.

Try a body shop. Most places I get my supplies at rarely charge more than $30 for paint. A quart of silverstone is only $23.

Have you done anything yet, I want to see pictures.
Also, will you color your center console too.
I am thinking to make my center console as Le Mans Sunset too.
If you do, show me the pictures!!!

Thanks a lot.

That is a big negative. Maybe today I will have some time to do it today. I promise you all though I will take some pics as soon as I do it. However, I am starting to think it will not look good being burnt copper. There is just a little but to much red in the paint and isnt a whole lot on the orange side to match the Le Mans color. Now I could be wrong once its on there. It might help with the color with the piece not being right by the actual car paint.

If all else fails, I will just buy some automotive paint and paint it with the stock paint. LOL.

UPDATE!!!!!! UPDATE!!!!!

OK everyone, her is an update. I painted the pieces and double dang is that paint way to red to match the Les Mans Sunset. So I am thinking about doing this.

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spr...t_matched.aspx

You can get your car color paint ordered and put into a 12 oz spray paint can. This is my first time doing this so I have a couple questions.

1. Would you buy it in the can or in a pint?
2. What type of surface prep should I do for the pieces I am going to paint. Like sanding, primer, etc...

Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch and sorry to let everyone down on this paint. It is just to red to match ours. Thanks.
