Default Clear Bra question

I'm considering a Clear Bra for my Z, and am looking for any recomendations or pitfalls that owners may have.

Here is a good link where you can find all kinds of information about Clear Bra and it's pros vs cons.

https://my350z.com/forum/search.php

In the field titled "Key Word(s):" type in "clear bra".

Warning, this thread is in serious danger of having a huge "R" posted, followed by other large letters.

Other than the rip-off steep price, its worth it!

I totally recommend the clear bra. If rock chips drive you nuts, like it does me, then the cost is well worth it. The only negative is the wax residue on the edges of the film after waxing. Need a toothbrush to get it out.

I bought a detailing tool recently at Checker Auto. It looks like a brush on one end, but the other end is a pointy soft rubber thingy that works great at getting the wax out of the edges. It's the size of a pen...

All I can say is use somebody with a lot of experience, and shop the price.

Is there a possibility that the bra gets "baked on"? Will you need to change it periodically?

I did get feedback from one of the manufacturers of a "clear bra" product that my SB paint could fade differently and the film could show up more than on other colors.
Has anyone had a clear bra product on the SB for more than 6 months?
I would like to get one but now I am a little hesitant too.

although the film is meant to be permanent, Ive removed film thats been on a car for over 5 years with no problem, the film stays on with a pressure sensitive adhesive that stay active and wont dry like glue.

hmm, more accurately, the "finish" of the paint may be differnt under the film than the rest of the paint. the paint under the film will be in the same condition as the day it was put on, so depending on how you maintain the rest of the paint, you may have a nicer finish under the film than the exposed film, This could easily be buffed to match but these installs are meant to be permanent and you will find that once installed you will not likely have a reasom to ever remove the film so any differnce in finish will never be apparent.

As for color change, unlike old fashioned black vinyl car bras, the film is clear and lets light and UV pass through so your paint will age evenly. Though with Black its a bit of a moot point since it has no other 'color' to discolor too! As far as the film itself discoloring, on black you dont notice, though the film is advertised as 99.5% opticaly clear, the .5% is only ever noticable on straight white, any other colors are not a problem though. Hope this helps, if anyone has any other questions feel free to drop me a line!
