Default Moisture in head lights... HELP

So, moisture has finally gotten into one of my headlights, and my HID bulb will not turn on. Now, I want to replace it, but what do I have to purchase... a whole new ballast and bulb? or just a bulb? Please help, i'm not familiar with HID's and would like to get this fixed ASAP

Thanks

Try this, remove your headlight and remove the ballast. I think moisture has built in there and needs to be dry out. Once dry, reinstall it. Let me know if that work.

The headlights must not have water inside of them. Moisture is another matter, though, it may or may not be a concern. The headlamps are designed to breath, so if there is high humidity in the air, then the lamps will eventually vent the water back into the atmosphere. If there are actual water droplets (not haze), but actual water collecting inside the lamp -- then you have a bad headlamp seal and the lamp should be repaired. Heavy moisture will damage the chrome coating on the plastic bezels and can also destroy the xenon capsules.

Both of my headlights have moisture in them for a while now. It is getting pretty bad. One on my headlight when out couple days ago. I know the ballast on the headlight is bad cause I changed the bulb and it didn't fix it. Then I changed the ballast with the good one and it worked.

I don't think you can just order the ballast from the dealer. They have to replace my whole headlight a while back becuase one of the ballast burned out. They told me that they have to replace the whole headlight becuase they can't order ballast seperate.

If you go one ebay there are couple ballast for sale. around 125 to 145 each.

Sometimes the connectors on the ballasts need minor repair, especially if the connectors are oxidized. It may be a simple fix. Ballasts may be available from the dealer, you'll have to speak to a parts guy who knows his parts. I am sure those ballasts are also used on various other headlamps.

Anyone know where I can get the actual headlight lens without buying a whole headlight assembly. Mine is cracked and letting moisture in. I dont want to pay for a whole light if i dont have to.

I believe there is a TSB on headlamp housing fogging. The TSB is outside of the warranty me thinks...can't hurt to take it in and find out.

The TSB is as follows:
INTB03-074

It's not guaranteed and applies to all 2001-2004 Nissan model...they will have to assess the validity for making a claim since the housing is vented to atmosphere.
