Hey guys I'm going to black out the housing on my headlights ... what paint is reccomended? Also what prep is reccomended?
Just sand / prime / paint? or is there more steps?
I already read the DIY on taking them apart .... just want to make sure to paint them correctly!

Me and my friend(custom painter/body guy) did my bezels for my show truck a couple years ago.
Couple tips:
First don't and I mean DON'T get anything onto the chrome parts you don't want to have to paint. The chrome coating is VERY fragile and is impossible to repair if damaged
Next on the parts you do want to paint...you'll want some kind of adhession promoter/plastic primer as your base.
I used a heat gun to seperate the light housing...working slowly and carefully heating a section then gently prying it open slightly, inch by inch. DON'T let the adhesive "goo" get onto the chrome bezels.
To reattach the housings just reheat till the goo is soft and push them back together. I used a couple of padded clamps to keep pressure on them till the goo sets up. Be sure to apply some good 100% clear silicon to the seam just so you know it's fully sealed.
With some patience you'll get great results,
Good luck!!!
