Default Add vents to OEM hood

I'm considering a new hood since my turbo makes the engine bake, but I'm wondering if anyone has cut vents into the original hood. If you have or can find some pix, please post them here. Basically, with the new APS plenum, my options are kinda limited. I figure a decent custom shop could do it.

agreed. there are body shops that can customize your stock hood and add louvers.. the one on the Nismo Z is very well done..

You sure you want to do that? Part of the reason i wanted to get a non oem hood was to save the one i have from rock chips and if its ever really bad weather id just throw the old hood on and take the vented one off. What are you going to do when you sell it? Plus with the money spent on doing the job right you could almost buy an aftermarket hood anyways.

yes but modding a car for some is about originality. you buy something off the shelf someone else has it. you go and get a custom one off job and no one has it. so if you have the money and can find a good shop to do it then i say go for it dude. be original and dont follow the crowd. i wanted to do something like that but ims ure itd cost more then id want to spend. i still think the z would look sick a little riced out like the jp vizage with a vented hood with a roof scoop molded in etc. but thats just my opinion. (what im trying to say is be different if you want) so go ahead.

for one thing, i don't think most aftermarket hoods will fit with the APS plenum and strut bar -- i wouldn't get it done unless i was positive it would look nice. i'm getting my bumper repainted anyway so I figure do it all at once.

Racing in July and August, the naturally aspirate 350Z is hot enough (hence the novice attempt to cool the plenum and throttle body with a bag of ice). I can imagine forced induction.

With the OEM bumper and hood design, I see no problem getting fresh air IN the engine bay. The problem is getting it OUT. I’d like to see a simple designed hood which is raised in the back (where it meets the windshield) about two inches. Hot air rises, and would have ample room at that point to escape.

Theres a guy around my area that has a red G35C with a hood scoop in it.. he took an aftermarket scoop from some other car and molded it into the G35C stock hood. Looks super clean, but he said he went through like 2 hoods to make it look right so.. lol
