Question Trunk mat anyone?

I was wondering if anyone has added the trunk mat yet and did it seem to lower the road noise much? I LOVE the Z, and do know it's a sports car, so I'm not complaining but it would be great if a $60 accessory helped any?

There are two, one which is an accessory when you order your car, which is nicer, and thicker, and has the Z logo. The other one (if you dont order that option) is pretty cheap and no embroidered logo. Looking at both, the nice one is a heavier material, so it might help, but probably not enough to notice....

Default Among my track model's options...

...is the trunk mat. It's quite good-lookin' with the embroidered Z setting it off. But as for noise reduction, getting the mat will not make any appreciable difference, IMO.

just an idea, but you could stitch dynomat to the bottom of the mat, that would help possibly, tho there is so much area in the car that noise comes in, I donno if youd notice, it wouldnt help any with any noise from the front which is what I mostly hear.

I'll pose the reverse question. If you remove the optional mat, will it make the exhaust sound more audible? I'll try that this weekend and see. That should answer both questions.

Wow! You guys are complaining about road noise? What did you drive before, a Cadillac???? I get very little wind noise or tire noise, what I do hear is just the machine talking to me, telling me when to shift. As a matter of fact, I had the pre-silencer removed to increase the exhaust sound!

(There are a couple of other threads - search for "pre-silencer")
