that makes sense. the way nissan designed the dimming circuit for this car, they made it drop from the 12v down to 0v over 1 second. that works great for a filiment bulb where the power to light output relationship is linear. for an LED, there is a certain voltage where they produce the desired light output. for a white led, this is usually between 2.5 and 3.8 volts. if the voltage per LED goes below 2.5, the led will "simmer" like what you guys are talking about. i guess there's nothing in the circuit to eat up that extra power so they burn it off. that's really weird, i never had that happen. but i also have LEDs in my door handles that tap into the dome light circuit. i guess thoughs extra 6 leds eat up enough current to where there's no extra current left over.
if you guys do put an extra resistor in parallel, make sure it is 6ohms or below, but able to handle a good amount of power. i would think a 6ohm 1watt resistor would work fairly well.

Last night I looked at my 6 LED festoon bulbs and yes, they do glow just the slightest. I have to really look but they are glowing very dimmly. I'm tall enough that I don't really notice it as they're out of my line of sight and tucked up inside the dome light housing.

sorry to thread bump, but during the day i switch mine to the off position and that does the trick. it doesnt stay dim or anything, and at night if i want to have a little glow above me i'll switch over to the door(or left position).
