My front bumper is pretty chipped up from normal driving and I was planning on painting it before winter to have it cure by spring while it is stored. I plan on getting a body kit later, so I figured why pay to paint the bumper twice. I was thinking of getting a kit over the winter, install it and take it to a body shop in early spring. The kit I am looking at is the full Vizage kit, not the lip kit. I have heard a lot of people complain about how low it makes the car, is this true? I am on Eibach springs and I don't want to just be dragging the kit around lol. About how much lower does it make it? Or how much clearance can I expect after installing this kit? And what do you guys think of the kit, fitment, etc.?

 

I have the exact setup you're looking at....Vizage kit w/ Eibach springs. If your car is a daily driver, don't do it. I just went out and measured it and my ground clearance at the center of the front bumper is just 3.5". It's a fiberglass bumper, so it's not going to be nearly as "Forgiving" as your OEM bumper. And if the front bumper clearance doesn't convince you, the ground clearance of the side-skirt, measured at the wheel well is just over 2.5".

It's the daily driver in the summer. Damn. How about the Vertex kit? These are like the only two that I like. Are they atleast high quality fiberglass? Not too thin?

 

Not sure about the clearance of the Vertex Kit. But yes, the Vizage kit is very nice, heavy duty fiberglass. That doesn't mean it won't shatter when you misjudge the height of that speedbump though! (Never done that personally. I see speed bumps, I look for ways around them.)

 

I have yet to go over a speed bump in the Z lol I am VERY catious with my car ever since I had a lowered eclipse with a blitz kit. It was Poly though. Do you happen to know what your stock clearane was with the Eibachs? It is that much more of a difference than the stock bumper? If it is just like 1 inch lower I could handle that.

And how was the fitment of the kit? The thing that sucked about poly is however it fit was the way it was. It is tough to modify and paint poly.

 

Yeah, this bumper really does drop your clearance vs. the stock bumper by probably a couple of inches. You can measure your car right now to see what the difference between your car w/ Eibachs and stock bumper and my car w/ Eibachs and Vizage bumper is...I'll bet it's probably a 2 inch difference. And don't forget the skirts....Measure your rocker panel clearance, I'll bet it's 4 or 5 inches, vs. my 2.5.

I find that it's not so much the speed bumps as it is the extremely shallow approach angles I have to maintain to get into driveways, parking lots, etc.

not lowered but i still have to be very careful driving with this kit installed. i will not lower my Z unless i p/u a beater.

I have this JP kit as well and I sit about 2" from the ground up front and even less on the sides. Then again I am dumped!

 

damn that is a beautiful car. I wish it wasn't so damn low. It looks bad *** that low but I live in Pittsburgh. There is no way I would not shatter that thing on a weekly basis lol

 

the vizage bumper is very low i have scraped everywhere, and i now have like 10 or so cracks in the bumper adn when you bottom out it casue the paint to spider crack. i have to take me bumper to get reinforced and repainted. so if you want the looks you have to pay the consequences.

 

I could take a picture of mine (which I have yet to get fixed from "The Bridge" incident and it's only gotten worse). It ain't pretty...

I have the Vertex front and I am lowered on Espelir (not sure how much drop, its at least an inch), my friend has the Vizage and is at stock height. We both have the same ground clearance. My advise is if you have Vizage, don't drop the car. Rick, how do you drive around? That isn't your daily right?

 

It is already dropped. I would rather get a different kit then have the visage with a big wheel gap. Are you saying the vertex is good clearance? I will probably end up going vertex then.

How low is the rear? I love the visage rear on DB. It looks higher. It doesn't look any lower on that white car than my mud flaps.

 

Rear lower spoiler is not a problem at all. Like everyone else has mentioned, the sides and the front are the only problem. I'm on my 5th "patch and paint job" on my front bumper - at least I've gotten real good at taking it off and putting it on!

I don't know that I'd call it a strictly show car kit. I drove my car to Tail of the Dragon, and I go on group drives and the like regularly. "Open road", the car is fine, it's when you start navigating things like speed bumps and driveways and other inclines that this kit gets to be a problem. I'd call it a "weekend driver" kit more than a "show only" kit.
