Default Anyone done a DIY with Decah lambo doors?

Well looks like it might be awhile till I sell my car and I'm just tired of the lambo doors all together so I wanted to remove them. I've played around with my car quite a bit so I feel this is something if I am pointed in the right direction I can do with a few friends help. Has anyone done their own install or for that matter removed the kit? I do still have all stock pieces needed to restore the car so that isnt a issue. Any info would help on this thanks a lot.

i'd say removed the fender, leave the door closed, removed hinges, put back stock ones on, tighten and you should be fine...

open door, might need small adjustments

I've done it. Do one side at a time so you have a reference. Remove the fender and side skirt. Support door while left closed. Then swap the hinges. You have to remove the door panels to reinstall the door range limiters.

Reinstalling the stock hinges is way easier then going vertical. Stock hinges everything should line up good when reinstalled. Vertical kits take a lot of manipulating to get all the lines and gaps right.

If your wires were extended you may have to put the excess inside the door, no big deal. Just make sure the wires do not rub or kink too much.

Why going back to stock?

I had a Vertical Door Inc. kit on and hated the way they operated. Then I went with a LSD Door kit and the doors function like it was from the factory.

Yeah I heard about the LSD kits but honestly I have too many more pressing issues to address than putting any more money into my car. The decah one's arent awful its just become a burden to deal with since everytime so new person gets in my car I have to to tell them how not to shut it and in time it gets screwed up anyway. I don't show the car anymore anyway and if i can take them off and be at ease till I can get the LSD kit later then that works for me.

Mind taking some pics of that LSD kit installed. From what I've seen on a Mercedes SLK 55 amg it is so much better than the other kits. Even looks presentable.

Here's some that I can fit on here. The wiring in the first picture was redone. We connected the wires originally with the Crimp style connectors, but they took up to much space and hit the inside of the fender. You have to solder the connections and keep those wire connections nice and slim.

Much nicer. How much easier are the doors to open up now? Do you think witht his system as opposed to the decah or vertical doors you can set up a motorized system? I think before the problem was how half *** they go up but this system seems so much more fluid and precise. don't have the door practically shaking its way up.

With the LSD kit you really cannot open the door wrong. The way it is designed it does not let you lift the door vertically until it is opened horizontally enough to avoid hitting your door panel and A-Pillar. Also it has the "Magic Stick" which keeps the door on a fixed horizontal plane of motion until lifted vertically. This prevents the door from automatically trying to go vertical as soon as you open it and having to hold the door down to close it.

Lifting the doors vertically is fairly easy, you have to give it some effort, but you are not straining yourself.

Remove the OEM fenders:

-remove battery/brake fluid covers and plastic frames pulling out plastic fasteners with flathead screwdriver
-remove (4) 10mm bolts along upper fender
-remove (2) 12mm bolts at end of headlight bracket
*either remove front bumper or undo (2) bolts side of bumper fastening it to fender
-remove (1) 10mm bolt holding fender to side of headlight
-remove (1) 10mm bolt right under A-pillar, with door open
-remove sideskirt...(2) plastic fasteners in rear, (2) in front of skirt, maybe a screw or 2 holding the fender liner to fender
-remove (2) 10mm bolts holding bottom of fender to frame
-remove (3) plastic fasteners by unscrewing phillips screws that hold fender liner to arch of fender

*pull fender outwards AND towards rear of car at the same time, as the upper front edge of fender is firmly held by the headlight bracket (where you removed the 2 12mm bolts)

That should be it.
