Default Tinting Suggestions

I am getting my car tinted in a week or so, now I need some suggestions on how many percentage to tint my car. My car is silver. I don't want the tint too dark. Now for the front, I want it to be legal enough to have and not get noticed by cops. I was thinking about going 35% all around but 35% in the rear might be a little too light. I also don't want the tint to be very different in color. I want to be evenly matched. What do you guys think about going 35% front and 25-30% rear.

And also, if you guys have any pics with these percentage, please post some pics so I can get an idea of how it looks. Thanks!

I prefer the darker tint and for the shade to be the same all around. I think a darker (20%, 25%) tint would really look good in Silver considering the contrast. BTW, try to get an installer that laser cuts the tint using a computer program. This ensures a perfect cut and fit. Good luck.

If you want to stay legal then you'll have to stick with something like 35% all around.

It all depends on where you are. When I was staioned in NM, I had 15% all around on my DC5. FL's like 25%, I think.

I thought Florida has a ridiculously low limit. 5% or something.

Damn, that would be nice. I personally think 20% all around is perfect regardless of car color. When it's overcast my 35% looks great. When it's bright out it's too light.

But it's legal and the cops in my town are ****** so I'm stuck with it.

I live in Northern Cali, so I have to worry about the law. I would think 35% all around would be just legal enough to not get picked on.

LOL sup Steven, thats what I am afraid of. I dont want to get pulled over just for tint, then they gonna tell me to pop my hood and crap. More sh*t to bust my aZZ with. I might go 30-35% all around but haven't decided yet.

You want 20% on the rear window on the hatch. The silver section on the strutbar will easily be seen through 35%, so that is why I say 20%. On the sides, you want 30-35% depending on what % your tinter uses. Have both the door and rear side windows done with the same % tint.

You really have to know your area. Florida's tint laws might be set at whatever but the cops don't care. They don't mess with people over tint unless they have some other reason to mess with you, like you're being a jerk when they pull you over for speeding. It doesn't hurt to roll down your windows and always turn on your cabin lights if you get pulled over too.

Also you should try to get in someone's car that has tint, during the daytime and night, so you can see what it really looks like.

I've got 13% on my sides and back and 30% in the front. I'm thinking about lowering the sides to limo tint (5%). With the 13% you can still see inside pretty easily if you're right up on the car.

Here are some pics of my car with the tint:

I've got the Chrome Silver with 20% all around. State limit here is 35%, but I haven't had any problems. Matter of fact an off duty cop did my tint.

Pics in my sig.

I have 5% all around including visor strip and haven't had any problems with cops not once. You have to choose a tint base on your interior color also. In my old car I had tan looking interior and I had 20% tint. It wasn't dark at all and I was **** for the longest. I said to myself if I get tint ever again I'm going all out and that's what I did. If you have dark interior I would say 15%. To be honest 5% is a little difficult to see out of at night when backing up. I have to roll down my windows or crack my door and watch where I'm backing up to in a dark area. If the area is pretty well lite, there's no problems. I can see you through my windows but you can't see me!..lol

Here in Denver, officers are very lenient on tint. Limit is 30%. On my Maxima, I have 5% on the rear and 20% on windows and to any cop driving behind me, it would look like it is 5% all around. I have never been pulled over for it.

Out of state, dark tint can get one pulled over for "visual interior inspection" reasons. Officers get suspicious over smuggling possibility, etc. I got pulled over in Iowa last summer by a State Trooper who just said that my tint seemed too dark. Took a good, long look inside the cabin, asked me if I had "any illegal substances in the vehicle", and when I offered to let him search the car, he wished me luck on my 2,100mi road trip and bid farewell. Didn't even run my license.
