mine was hard as sh*t to take off also. I ended up trying to twist it off so hard that i broke the shifter. Good news is i eventually got the shifter off the top of the shifter and was able to repair the shifter. is your car a 2003? i heard they put too much red loctite on the 2003's.

I got the B&M, I didn't have a whole lot of a problem taking it off, but it wasn't easy.

I guess I'm either lucky or strong Mine was originally very tight, but I kept playing with it at stops. I'd just twist it occasionally back and forth. Eventually, it just broke free one day.

Dang, that's nuts. I thought mine was going to be real difficult to remove, I used vice grips right at the base and a rag over the ****, and twisted hard. **** came off no problem. There's a Nismo PDF floating around here with some helpful tips.

Your guys with the damaged ***** would have got a lot more leverage, had you tried to remove from the bottom (thick metal section) rather than from the leather, thin section. I have an '03, and while it was tought, it really was no big deal.
