Default Front headlight difusser removal

I was thinking of getting Rick's clear difusser to replace the ornage difusser in the headlight cubby. But I read his instructions on taking the headlight apart and it mentioned putting the headlight unit in the Oven on back @ 225 for 12 minutes

Is this really necessay to take apart the headunit? Has anyone done this mod and had to do this oven baking thing!?

Damn, I was hoping I read wrong.

So what part of the headlight unit did you put on the baking sheet? the glass part or the plastic part?

Why is this oven baking thing neccessary? is it to make the plastic softer so the glass can be taken out?

Do you have to heat it again to put the glass back after you are done?

Wouldn't the heat melt the plastic or anything else?

Did you run into any complications while doing this mod?

Sorry for all the questions.

Most of the time it is so the cement/adhesive holding the sealed headlight together becomes gooey and lets you separate the pieces to work inside the headlight. Hope that helps.
