Default 3M film on headlights?

I'm getting an Xpel 3M protective film kit installed next weekend, but I haven't made up my mind about the headlights. I can get them done for $50, but I have to give the guy time to order since they don't cut those themselves.

What are people's opinions on the need for those with our lights? Anybody with a lot of miles seeing hazing from the small rock impacts and sandblasting of day to day driving? Anybody had serious damage to lights?

How much are they to replace, anyway? I assume pricey.

Personally I think it's a waste of money to put them on the headlights... Because honestly what possible can happen from rock chips hitting the headlight, the paint is what could chip.

IMHO

headlights chip too, and look like crap, or can even crack from an errant rock. $50 is very cheap insurance, and you can't even tell its there on the lights.

btw, I've got dynashield, which wraps around the edges, so the only visible line goes across the middle of the hood. when I had my car dyno'd the tech thought someone had keyed my hood, as he could see the line from the back, but couldn't tell the film was on there!

Problem is that I can't find anybody short of driving to Knoxville or Memphis that does the stuff at all, so I can't be too choosy. It is basically Invinca-Shield or Xpel. I don't see enough added coverage on the Invinca-Shield that matters to make it worth the additional money.

Mikey, what happens to a lot of cars' plastic headlights is a sandblasted look after a few years. The headlights are such a visual feature on the Z, I'm just wondering how well they'll hold up to this.

VERY WORTHWHILE MOD! I have had to repalce my Lexus Lenses after bugs rocks etc, clouded the fock out of them over 2 years! I personally installed the light film myself on my Z. Very easy to do, just be sure and line it up properly and "squigy" as much moisture out as possible.

I didn't get the film on my headlights when I got the 3M kit put on, and I wish I did. I already got a rock chip in one of the headlights! It took a little nick right out of the plastic lense. It's just small, but I can imagine what it will look like in a few years as these start accumulating. I would get the headlights done if I were you.

I got the 3M kit done and i did NOT do the headlights..1 month later i saw a small scratch one one headlight that probably would have been avoided with the light kit...I say go for it...I'm going to add it since my installer is coming back to my house to fix some bubbling.

Thanks guys. I'll probably get it (I just needed some encouragement )

As for doing it myself, it is actually $40 now, so I can't buy the stuff from Xpel for that (I think they are $69).
