Default Got the Compass Mirror

I ordered the Nissan "Compass" mirror from Perf. Nissan. My Touring was pre-wired for the Auto-Dim/Homelink mirror, so installation took only 5 minutes. Calibration consisted of setting the geographic zone # (a map of North America is provided) and driving in a circle 3 times.

Gentex is the company that makes them for Nissan. They have some other models as well, and you can buy them from Mito Corp. I didn't think to check there first to see what Mito charges, but I'd be interested to see if they charge less. At least one model offers auto-dim, homelink, compass *and* outside temperature.

Activate garage doors, gates, home lighting and more with the press of the programmable 3-button remote that is integrated into the auto-dimming rearaview mirror with outside temperature, compass and map lights.

This one has map lights also.

Not for Enthusiast, Performance, Touring or Track Models
Why won't it work with these models?

The Base Z comes with a plain low-tech mirror. The others come with Auto-Dim/Homelink mirrors (i.e. they require power and the higher-model Z's are wired for such).

The "compass" mirror accessory includes a wiring harness for Base Z's, so it is intended as an "upgrade" for Base Z's. Regardless, it is plug-compatible with the existing wiring in the higher-model Z's. You just don't need the additional harness.

(I have a Touring and it plugged right in and worked.)

Nice catch! Btw, the electrical connection on the back of the mirror in your picture looks different than what Nissan uses. I wonder if Nissan did that so you have to buy from them?

I think this one lacks the Homelink feature.

The various models have various features, some do not have homelink.

gringott, i like your avatar pic. I'd love to find a nice quality replacement mirror glass with acid-etched lettering like that.

This is just a decal, bought it from a member online here, has lasted over a year without problems.
