Yeah just get a new gas tank, you don't want to mess around with trying to repair a hole for a gas tank. If you don't properly close it right, you are going to smell the fumes.. just get a new one. It's like getting a hooker, if she has gonorrhea, get another one...

I hear what you guys are saying, I want to be as punctual as possible with it as well, but a new tank + install is going to cost a fortune.

The tank sits in between the frame and the tranny, it actually straddles the tranny. For example, there is a big tank on the left side and a big tank on the right side with the tranny running between them and a little piece connecting the two. The two big tanks sit underneath the stock sub and glove box areas.

So obviously, you would need to remove the transmission to get the old tank out and put a new tank in Thats where it will cost me big bucks.


Granted, if there is no other way I can be sure the hole is securely shut and done with, I may have to end up going that route.

Seriuosly: How big is the hole? are our tanks plastic? If the hole is smaller than 3/8" and the tank is metal, it looks like this will work: http://www.permatex.com/products/ind...20Repair%20Kit

Another bit of info: A puncture or hole can be repaired by soldering or welding the tank. The only problem is gas tanks tend to blow up when a flame is applied to them. Not good ! The cure is pretty easy, but might be hard to do for the average person. You will have to have a tank of some kind of inert gas that will not burn. Simply fill the gas tank with inert, non-flammable, gas under slight pressure and weld away. No oxygen, no blown up tanks or so the theory goes. Just make sure the tank is purged of any air ! I'm always surprised at how many good welders don't know this. They try to fill the tank with water, flame off any gas, and BOOM they still blow up. Right idea, wrong filler. For the average guy it might just be best to take it to a good welder who knows the trick. You can get a two part epoxy made especially for gas tank repair. I've used it a couple of times and the fix held. Just remember that these epoxies work good for a limited time. Sooner or later they will fail. Sometimes they seem to last forever... other times the same glue doesn't last at all.

In my lowridin days, I drug out my gas tank laying frame. A screw, silicon and a rubber gromet worked in a pinch, but it is best to get a new gas tank.
