Hello, i just looked at the harness that plugs into my halogen (05 base model) headlights and its a 6 prong adapter, can someone look and see what there 06 adapter looks like, i.e. how many prongs ?

Someone has had to of done this before. I get my headlights tomorrow morning (paid for overnight shipping and no, im not rich, just desperate) and need to know how to hook them up to my base model 05. Thanks and sorry for the flood of "halogen to HID" threads today.

 

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. My lights are due to arrive in the morning and was anxious to get some solid answers. You have the most solid answer so far, rock on. I just got back from my house and went to look at the headlight harness that is on my car right now and it is a 6 prong and i also thought the HID's where 6 prong. I KNOW someone has had to of done this, but i have searched ALL DAY and cannot find anything with solid answers as to how it is done.

So, are the 06 headlights 6 prong or 9 prong or does it have 50 prongs!?? haha

Did you have halogens or HID's ?? And how many prongs where on the 06 light?

My base 05 has 6, 3 across the top and three across the bottom.

Mine has 6 prongs and its halogen. I just looked at it. I have an 05 so maybe ours are different. Are you certain the 06 headlights are 6 prong? That would be awesome if so.

What year and model is your car?

If you have an 03-05 w/ HID, then the 06 headlights will plug right in.
If you have an 03-05 w/ Halogens, then the 06 headlights will NOT plug right in, due to the different harness.

My best guess, is to go to the dealership and buy the HID harness which should be around $17. Then you just replace the whole wiring harness and connect them like you would normally do.
Other than that, I have no idea how to modify the stock Halogen harness to fit into the HID harness. Unless you can find a wire schematics of what wire does what (power/ground/high-beam/low-beam/turn-signal/parking light/side-marker) and then just quick-splice each wire to the corresponding wire. This is just a guess though.

 

Don't know exactly, I haven't looked at the plugs lately, but I know the HID harness has more prongs than the halogen harness, that's for sure. So if it's not 4:6, then it's 6:8

 

OKay, i just got the 06 headlights in and they are 7 prong. So, they have one more prong then my 05 headlights. Now i have to find away to get thes to work. Since i have not found anyone to help me with this, i may be footing it by myself, first thing is to trace the wires and see if anything matches up in my old headlights and splice accordingly. Hope it just an extra ground or something.

 

Just so you know, the 06 lights have one more prong then the 05 halogens. So no i must ask, what is the differenece between the 05 halogens and the previous year halogens, why would i have 6 prongs and the older halogens have less?

 

that I have no idea, 03-05 halogens should be the same...

 

i need a wiring schematic.

Im not to inclined on wiring, but through logic i am determined how to swap these. I am going to trace each wire and figure this out.
