You forgot something on your poll: Be a free thinker and be original, make up your own mind. .

I didn't answer the poll because I don't know what you want.

I think if I had a black Z I would not paint them, but get a black chrome finish (the front nissan logo too, maybe the ones on the back)

shave? why???? they nice lookin, atleast to me. I guess thats up for grabs tho.

as for painting, while I want my handles to be black, painting wont look good. I wanted to powder coat them, but then found out they are plastic, so no good.

anyway, come up with a better way to do it than paint, or it will chip and flake and generally look like crap.

I really like the handles.

A group of ricers pulled up to me one night and asked how much it would be to shave my handles...

Kinda steered me in the other direction.

I don't mind the door handles, since they blend in on my CS... but on some other colors, a lot of people think they look out of place, ruin the lines of the car, etc. I'm thinking Matrix is one of these people, and I think shaving them would look better than painting them.

Down with the 50s fridge handles!

(Do it and post close ups, so I can see how it looks. I've thought of doing it on my DB)

Paint can look very good. This is a picture of my interior. The silver is what I painted.

few things, that is interior, not exposed to the elements, and is not really "used" like the handle which is constantly touched, and pulled(bending it as well).

its just generally a bad idea to paint things, more often then not people come onto forums asking where to buy new panels cause they ****ed up their origonal ones with paint and now its flaking.

i think if i had a bodyshop paint it just like the normal body panels of a car, clearcoat and all, it should be fine...i mean car handles on most cars are painted to match the car, so i dont see why this would be any different

One thing I do like about the silver door handles (even though they kind of stick out on a black car) is that they will not mar up and scratch as easily as black painted door handles will from use (or at least they won't show it as badly).

Default Painting handles

I think painted handles could look pretty cool.

I agree with what other people said... I would be worried about wear and tear on the paint since the handles get, well, handled a lot.

You might want to check out epoxy/appliance paint. It is super tough paint and you can probably get it in gloss black.

The other thing to be carefull about would be surface prep. This paint needs to stick really well to put up with abuse. Be sure to clean and lightly sand every square mm that you will paint.

well if you do this route, it might be ok, but painting the car is a pretty involved process and Im not positive clear coat you buy in the store is the same as they use at the factory. but someone else would know.

I still think its risky, Im not saying no to making the handles black, I want black handles, Im just not sure paint is the way to do it.

Im still looking into finding someone to make various peices of the car in aluminum(or titanium? ) such as handle, gas cap door, ect. I think I may have found someone, and you guys will all be the first to know if they can.

If I do paint the handles, im gonna have a professional bodshop paint em just as if they were doin a bodykit or somethin like that, im not gonna do it myself....so im positive it would come out ok and not have to worry about chipping or flaking.

I would tend to think if it was prepped correctly, it would be ok. My GTP handles are black, and I'm pretty sure are just painted plastic. After 5 years, they are still in good shape.

When you say that all other cars have body color door handles your right, but the Z is its own car and isn't like every other car in a lot of ways.
