POLL.Should I paint my doorhandles??
#6
shave? why???? they nice lookin, atleast to me. I guess thats up for grabs tho.
as for painting, while I want my handles to be black, painting wont look good. I wanted to powder coat them, but then found out they are plastic, so no good.
anyway, come up with a better way to do it than paint, or it will chip and flake and generally look like crap.

I don't mind the door handles, since they blend in on my CS... but on some other colors, a lot of people think they look out of place, ruin the lines of the car, etc. I'm thinking Matrix is one of these people, and I think shaving them would look better than painting them.

few things, that is interior, not exposed to the elements, and is not really "used" like the handle which is constantly touched, and pulled(bending it as well).
its just generally a bad idea to paint things, more often then not people come onto forums asking where to buy new panels cause they ****ed up their origonal ones with paint and now its flaking.

i think if i had a bodyshop paint it just like the normal body panels of a car, clearcoat and all, it should be fine...i mean car handles on most cars are painted to match the car, so i dont see why this would be any different

One thing I do like about the silver door handles (even though they kind of stick out on a black car) is that they will not mar up and scratch as easily as black painted door handles will from use (or at least they won't show it as badly).

Painting handles
I think painted handles could look pretty cool.
I agree with what other people said... I would be worried about wear and tear on the paint since the handles get, well, handled a lot.
You might want to check out epoxy/appliance paint. It is super tough paint and you can probably get it in gloss black.
The other thing to be carefull about would be surface prep. This paint needs to stick really well to put up with abuse. Be sure to clean and lightly sand every square mm that you will paint.

I still think its risky, Im not saying no to making the handles black, I want black handles, Im just not sure paint is the way to do it.
Im still looking into finding someone to make various peices of the car in aluminum(or titanium? ) such as handle, gas cap door, ect. I think I may have found someone, and you guys will all be the first to know if they can.

If I do paint the handles, im gonna have a professional bodshop paint em just as if they were doin a bodykit or somethin like that, im not gonna do it myself....so im positive it would come out ok and not have to worry about chipping or flaking.
