Default For those that want power seats in their enthusiast or base...

I've seen a bunch of posts asking how you can put OEM leather seats into an enthusiast or base model Z. These models are not pre-wired for the powered seats, so you'll have to run your own wires. I've shown how to do this with some pics in my blog. I didn't take many pictures, so if something is not clear, just ask

thanks. most of those posts were probably me. I had some questions.

1. did you splice into the cig lighter wire or disconnect the entire wire and use it directly?

2. where did you ground to?

3. what gauge wire did you use?

4. on the harness coming out of the seat, are the wires color coded correctly so that you know which one should be power and which should be ground?

1. I spliced into the cig lighter. I disconnected it first and let it hang, and then tapped into it since it's easier to access that way.

2. I used the ground off the cig. lighter. It has a black and red wire coming from it, red is power, black is ground.

3. The same gauge coming off of the cig lighter, I believe it's 16, but not positive.

4. Yup! Just tap into the red and black ones from the plug that comes from the control that moves the seat as pictured.

Can you post a follow up in a month or so & let us know if your still happy?

Point being I'd like to know if there are any "unintended consequences" to adding power seats the way you did.

I'm thinking about the wiring...since you had to add power. Will the added wiring cause any electrical issues?
