Vacuum Bagging CF?
Does anyone here do their own vacuum bag carbon fiber overlays on stuff? Seems like someone would be fed up with paying 100 bucks for a CF overlaid dash and would just go buy a sheet of carbon cloth, some expoxy, and vacuum bag it themselves. If anyone has can you tell me about how you did it and how it turned out? Thanks.
sure you can do it yourself, but its damn messy-
also bagging it doesnt necessarily mean the CF will stick to the surface you're trying to apply it to- you're still going to have to 'rough' the dash surface so the resin will stick to it, and getting the bag/sponge foam to wrap around the edges will be tricky.
i've done this for a few school projects, and trust me, its not 'pretty' CF. its functional ugly stuff. if you want it it show worthy, you'll want the thick glossy gel-coated CF that people buy and not the vac-bag type.
