Unhappy No Sunroof/Moonroof?!

I'm a real freak when it comes to cars.. I'm looking to buy a new car, and after months of looking through different cars - and throwing out many good cars due to minor faults I felt that they have, due to the fact that I'm incredibly picky... I've narrowed it down to the 350Z or G35 Coupe.

However, one of the bigger things I have a problem with is that this car has no sunroof. And I like the 350Z's styling a bit better than the G35 Coupe, so I'm not sure if I wanna jump to the G35, simply because of this.

Can anyone give me some advice? Is a sunroof part of Nissan's plan for an '04 model? Would it actually be a wise choice to jump to a G35 Coupe? :/

Any advice is appreciated...

Thanks!

I don't think Nissan is going to put a sunroof on any model year Z car!!! According to my dealer, they said that due to the shape of the car, it is not possible to put a sunroof/moonroof on this car! If you want... might as well just wait for the convertiable version!... or go for G35.....

cheers,

richie

that bites hard...I am a big fan of convertibles as well. It's most of what I drive. SO when I started looking at new cars, I thought..."damn, well I've at least got to have a sunroof!"

As soon as I saw the Z I stopped caring. It is oh-so-nice, with or without sunroof. There are some sacrifices you just have to make

I don't think its the shape of the roof, the curve isn't extreme. I think a sunroof like on the new maxima would be nice. but I think they didn't put one in is cause of cost. they would have to bend the glass to the shape of the roof. Not to mention the other parts of the roof and the extra work on the headliner.

I LIKE not having a sun/moon roof. I am so tall they rob headroom and they cost at least $1K extra I don't want to pay. If you want open air driving, the convertible will be out soon.

I do miss my moonroof from my Honda (that and that gas mileage), but really, take a Z for a test drive....the trade off is worth it. =)

I donno if price really matters. but just the same... the roof was their reason, it could never retract, it would hit the hatch, which is then a huge ordeal to make it so the hatch wont open if the sunroof is open....

anyway, so the other option is a moon roof? Im alright without it, you lose some structural support, gain weight, cost, all so sun can bake you out; since it hardly opens.

if you want open air, convertable will be here in a few months, or go with the G35 coupe, it has a larger roof, and a trunk instead of a hatch.

Boomer - They could always just include as an "option" for those of us who want to pay the extra $1K....

Anyway, the thing is - is that I'm not a big convertible fan. And I don't really live in a climate that is very conducive to open top driving the majority of the year. *shrug*

You hit the nail on the head. Just look at the roof, there is really no room for a moon roof between the windshield and the top of the hatch. All we have to blame for this are the stunning good looks and the wonderful roof line of the Z.

once your in teh car your not going to even be thinking about a sunroof. I had one for 2 years and i dont miss it one bit now in the Z. there is so much to make up for the lack of an extra piece of glass. Besides, whats it going to do for ya? So you can see the bird shiz fall on your car while your driving, or watch airplanes? Maybe you can watch for choppers while your running from the cops.......

An option would be fine w/me, I know sunlight is precious in the Great White North. I have found not tinting the windows to be quite enough sunlight for me. I would agree it looks really good w/tint, but I don't like it at night, it obscures my vision too much. The rear hatch window may be an exception, depending on the heat gain I get next summer.

Back on topic, I have crossed too many cars off my to buy list because of a mandatory sun or moonroof which meant I couldn't fit in the car.

6'5" w/34" inseam. Long torso hampers my headroom in every thing except my Sister-in-Law's BMW 740iL, 120+" wheelbase. I, however have never cared for full-sized cars, too clumsy.
