Removing the Rear Wiper
Hey folks...
I just picked my car up from the dealer's body shop because they were fixing some paint damage that occurred while the car was in transit from Japan. Anyway, when I got to the dealer I inspected the paint and everything was to my satisfaction, so I went on my way. Then while I am driving, I noticed that my rearward view was more obstructed than usual, and I realized that the rear wiper was laying across the window (from side to side of the car) instead of its normal position (along the length of the car). Those morons took off the wiper and put it back on 90 degrees from where it should go! The paint damage was on the hatch, so they had to remove the wiper and glass to repaint the entire thing.
So obviously now if I turn on my rear wiper, it will trill to sweep toward the rear of the car and either scrape along the rear deck, or burn the motor up if it can't get up over the weather stripping. Anyway, I need to take the wiper off and put it back in its normal position, but I can't find anything in the owner's manual telling/showing how to accomplish that. Can anyone give me some insight on this one?
NOTE: It is not an issue of the wiper blades being installed incorrectly (I can handle that...), it is the entire wiper arm assembly.
Thanks...
Steve

Just unscrew the nut on the bottom of the arm, pop it off and but it in position and screw it back in. Its really that easy, Nissan did the same damn thing to me, I tell you what else it doesnt make them seem like rocket Scientists does it.

I just went back out to my car to look for that nut...can't seem to find it. Where exactly on the wiper arm is it? Down by the pivot point? And I am assuming it's a very small black hex nut?
Thanks again!

hmmm...well I sort of followed those instructions...except once I removed the nut, I just rotated the wiper arm until it was in the right position. It did required some force to make the arm rotate, but it went nonetheless. Then I replaced the nut and put the cover back on, then turned on the wiper to test. It seemed to sweep back and forth as intended without making any strange noises, so hopefully it is ok. I am just hoping that I didn't damage anything in the wiper mechanism when I rotated the arm, but chances are good that it broke friction between the wiper arm thru hole and the shoulder on the pivot stud before it damaged the motor mechanism. I guess time will tell.
Thanks for the help guys!

I painted mine with a cheap spray can. Came out looking great. Metal flakes and all.
I'm gonna have to agree and say just take it off and leave it. If you polish your glass with whatever you use on your paint it'll work like rain-x(without that damn residue). There's no need for a wiper back there...

That plug can't expensive, can it? lol

Since you have a black car, you might not even have to paint it.
