Default Would this ruin the stability?

Alright, so i have this dream of creating a media wall behind the seats, like subs pointed toward the front, and the amps and stuff behind them, in that little space between the rear sway bar, and that compartment....basically was thinking about this design when i was drooling over a 3rd gen rx-7. i was planning on removing the joke of a backseat, and building my box there. Thank god i waited for the sexier z!

hard to explain, but i would like to be able to keep the trunk area, so that's why i thought to put it in this location. so under all that plastic is steel in basically the same shape. does this do alot of structural work? or is it jsut there. theres no real way of making the sub boxes into the area, even with molded fiberglass, so i was thinking of removing it. would that kill the stability? if it does, i'll just fiberglass over the plastic, and start in on the rear hatch, but i'd love it if it worked!!

So what do you think?

I asked the same question, everyone says that metal is there for more than just holding up the plastics.
