Default Leather + Jeans = Ruined leather?

I have a question to those of you who are experienced with leather car seats...

My girlfriend's Infiniti salesman told her that wearing jeans on her G35's leather seats will quickly ruin the seats. He went so far as to tell her to buy something to put between her and the seats to extend the life of her seats. She wears jeans... a lot, so we're both curious as to whether there was any validity to this claim? I can see how jeans would be "rougher" than say cotton slacks, but really... c'mon, how fragile is leather that we were warned to not wear jeans?! Coincidentally, I don't believe I've worn jeans ever since I've taken delivery of my Z... and my leather is looking GGGgggrreeeeatt!

Your thoughts?

I don't think the issue is wear. The dye in the jeans might bleed onto the leather. This is very possible under the right conditions, i.e. newness/dampness of jeans, etc. The Mustang Cobra I just sold had the crappy saddle leather seats and I never experienced this problem with jeans. The seats did, however, pick up some dye from the black seat belts. I was able to clean the black dye off with a thorough cleaning. I would recommend keeping the seats thoroughly moisturized and only using cleaners when absolutely necessary. My seats still lookes pretty good after four years of use.

Default jeans

I've been wearing mostly jeans since taking delivery about 3 weeks ago. I don't notice anything on the seats, but it has onlybeen 3 weeks.

could be because the jeans have rivits (?) or meatal studs that can cause tear or scratch the leather.

Default I wore

black jeans in my new Frost interior and I can confirm they marr the seat. I was just commenting on this very issue yesterday. Just to clean the leather more often I guess

This should definitely be an alert! I mean getting your new Z can cause wet pants in many different ways, for example:

1. Taking a neighbor for a spirited drive....neighbor says, "holy **** you scared me on that turn, I think I lost something."
2. Having your significant other with you in the car and....the hum stops and you say, "WOW that was great for many different reasons."
3. Laughing too hard at the Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck that keeps trying to get you to race.
