Default Repairing carbon fiber

My carbon fiber TS diffuser has a small crack at the edge that runs down about 3/4" but the fibers are still intact. Is there anyway to resurface this or is it not repairable?

If its wet cf weave, you can sand it down and respray it with clear cloat.

You could buy some epoxy/resin and fill the crack, but the crack/imperfection will still be noticeable. Is it dry carbon or fiberglass with a carbon layer over it? You could try and patch it with some carbon fiber cloth but I think that would only make it more noticeable. Better off filling the crack, carefully sand it down, touch it up with black paint and clearcoat.

edit: And if you DO decide to try and fill it, do it OUTSIDE and wear a respirator. That stuff is highly toxic and a carcinogen. And don't touch the exposed fibers!

It looks like fiberglass with the carbon fiber layer and then clearcoat. Its not visable since its under the car. I just dont want the crack to spread.

Ill take some pictures when i get home tonight.

Bump for anymore ideas. A local body shop suggested just going over the one spot with clearcoat to help keep the crack from spreading.

they use a surfboard clear resin called "249 similar" to lay up CF, then the add a sanding agent in the final coat..
What you do is wet sand the spot down a bit, apply a few coats of resin the the final coat and wet sand with 400-600-800-1000-1200-1500 then polish..
The materials can be purchased through UScomposites.com
Ps, I can not believe Top Secret would use a Fiberglass base and not a full carbon structure..WEAK..

Could you make a dry carbon one? I was a little worried about the whole thing flexing under stress(you can wobble it by hand) but it had mounting brackets that should keep it sturdy i guess.

sure why not, Dry carbon is way stronger than fiberglass with the overlay. In fact the overlay method offers no structural benifiet...
