Default EVO-R front lip body shop cost! IM PISSED!!#$@$

Ok guys basically i bought the evo-r lip of a member here that was brand new, and i took it to my body shop for paint. I was charged for a previous lip 100 bucks because it was very high quality, but i just got a call from them and they will charge 500 dollars because of all the labor time that the lip needed in preperation for paint. He said there were pinholes and inperfections everywhere! IM SO PISSED! I was better off buying a 2000 dollar top secret front bumper instead because it would of been much less of a hassle! DO NOT BUY the evo-r lip unless you are willing to pay Out the *** for prep work! IM SO PISSED!

that's what to expect from a knock off. There are hits and misses. I guess this product is a miss.

Good luck.

That sounds high to me too.
I know I could have my whole bumper stripped and prepped for $300 down here.

i work at a body shop and the most they would charge someone to paint the front bumper is $220. i think that is way too much for labor and supply.

As a guy that works in this industry, parts vary largely with fitment and surface quality. If a part does not fit, it will require work. If the surface is wavey it will need additional labor to primer and block. Pinholes are also a hassle. Here's the scenarios:

$500.00 JDM Aftermarket Lip will cost you $250 for install and paint.
$125.00 Ebay Aftermarket Lip will cost you $600 for install and paint.

If the part does not fit, it doesn't have to do with prep work anymore, this is now called fabrication. This is very costly in time. I notice many of the cheap ebay parts are bad in fitment, they trim the parts horribly and many times they over trim so the shop is required to rebuild that section that was over grinded by the manufacturer. Then the waves inside the part because they didn't use high quality tooling quality materials such as the gelcoat, primer, and resins. These waves require the shop to build up the primer and then block it down. This step usually take 1-2 hour each time. After everything is done, then they proceed to paint the part. You tell me that you'll do it yourself for $250? It's not worth the time and effort.
