Engine Dress-up Help
So I'm planning on working on my engine bay in the next few weeks and want to do it right, but wanted to get any/all advice or help before starting.
1.) Where can I find a step by step guide to painting the engine , battery, and brake covers? And where is the best place to buy paint? I thought I saw a link earlier, but can't find it.
2.) I've seen some other people's engine bays and they have some sweet caps on their fluid with a Z logo. Where do you get these?
3.) Where have people found the braided wires in the engine and how easy are these to install?
Thanks for all the help. I'm pretty new and only had my 05' Lemans Z for about 6 months and can now start doing some mods. I've already got the Nismo intake and will be ordering headers and exhaust soon.

The covers were painted by a local paint shop and the samco hoses can be purchased at most online retailers. I know someone will post a pic of the hoses and the locks soon......I'm still using the OEM hoses but the samco ones are colored. The grounding kit is a custom orange and was purchased of a members here but don't know where he found the orange color.

You can paint the engine, battery and fluid covers yourself with just a little prep work.
Go to www.towerpaint.com and you can order a can of spray paint that matches your factory color just by entering the paint code. Get a can of Bulldog Adhesion Promoter (plastic primer spray) and some clearcoat too.
Scuff the surface of the covers with some 400 or 600 grit sandpaper then wipe down with a degreaser. Spray with the Bulldog - this will stick to the plastic and the paint will stick to it. Paint with your color of choice then some clearcoat.

IMHO he's the Master in Painting!
At Zeetoyz.com I'm looking at all the hose lock kits and they all say either for samco hoses or cold air locks or stuff like that. I don't really understand. Does that mean if I plan on purchasing the Samco hoses that I should wait to buy the locks because they won't fit regular hoses? I appreciate the help.
get some FI and change out everything lol
here's mine... I'm currently getting a custom coolant overflow tank with a blued titanium finish (anodizer is gonna do his best) and looking to have the anodizer blue the ARC Ti strut bar and ARC Ti Cooling plate. I'll post more pics when all that is done.. hopefully it will look stunning..

Here's a pic of ZPRESENCE's fabulous paint work of art...he did the cooling plate which was originally carbon fiber...painted it chrome silver and the heat shield plus some other tidbits...you won't find any dust particles or smudges...just a beautiful paint job!

here is my DIY for "prep-ing" the plastic covers. I had it professionally painted at my local bodyshop.

Some people are using a paint-pen to paint the letters in the brake and battery covers.
Hard to believe that I did this 3 1/2 years ago. Wow time flies when you are driving a Z!
