Default Hood Pins

I just bought a carbon fiber hood, and it is predrilled for hood pins. Is there any particular brand that is good and where is a good place to buy them? either online or in the store

Nopi.com has some good ones. I know that Sparco is trusted and is fairly cheap. Definitly do not go with the cheapest ones though as you are trusting your hood to be held down by these. I have seen a few people who have fast cars (11sec quarter) and have had there hoods rip off because they had cheap hood pins. Not a good thing to say the least.

I've used the Sparco on previous cars. Only drawback is you can't really lock them for protection if your hood doesn't have a latch.

But seriously, how many people will have them. Spend $86, be one of the few.

I agree. $86 is a drop in the bucket compared with all the other mods you could do to the car.

Think about it. Your CF hood probably cost like 600 - 800 shipped, then some people get them painted.. So, that is a small price to pay for peace of mind and clean looks.

I had some custom pins by HoodPins, but they do not work on curved hoods. Now I am sporting the Sparco pins and I do not like the way they look. I would much prefer these... might have to take a look at that soon.

Thanks for the pics man

Here is a set installed, the pictures don't do it justice. They look so much better in person. I should have 4 sets available soon. These are the exact same ones that Top Secret/Bullet Proof sells at a huge markup.

The actual brand is Aerocatch and they are out of the UK http://www.aerocatch.com/ . Top Secret makes it look like it's something that they make so they can charge way more.

The quality is very nice, they are UV coated and the weave matches my Siebon hood very well!

If anyone is interested I will let you know when I have some sets available.

I installed these myself and I didn't think it was that difficult. Before I installed them I went around to some body shops but they refused to install them. I did have an offer from one Porsche place for $600!

^ That looks absolutely sweet! So much more cleaner looking than the traditional hood pins. I'm interested. Let me know when you get some & for how much shipped. BTW...do these come in plain stainless steel? I'm planning on painting it to color-match my car anyway so it'll be waist for me to get the CF ones. TIA...

They're plastic and they can be painted or overlayed. If you just want the plain ones to have painted go here:

They're $86

The Carbon fiber is something that I had done to them, they come in just a rough black finish.
