Default 6 speed manual console trim fit an auto?

Hey all,

As part of my new MOMO auto shift **** and redlinegoods.com boot, I wanted to know if a 6 speed manual console from an 03-05 would fit the clips and alignment for a 5 speed in my 03? It's about $90 for the special order from courtesyparts.com so rather than ordering and having to return, I figured I'd ask here if anyone would know if it'd work.

The main issue is not only would it clip in place and align but if the portion surround the shifter which indicates what gear you're in, would fit inside of the cutout.

Thanks!

If it fit in the first place, why would they make 2 different designs?

I think the problem comes with how the heater controls (shift surround) are set up. Check pictures of the 06 console, you will see the problem.
Of course this is assuming I understand what you are asking about.

Did you read the long Momo Automatic **** Swap Thread? I posted a bunch of Pix on one of the last pages showing how to cut the stock 5AT ring to get a boot to fit well.

Yup, read that post which was my inspiration. The problem is just I've cut a lot and with my redline boot it's not sitting flush... so I was wondering if a 6mt trim would be the easy fix than buying a new ring and trying again!!

Some Companies make Billet Aluminum Rings with 4 Screw holes that might fit your application.
