So, I have the Veilside V1 Lip on my car in CF. Before I was with silver wheels, so I paintmatched the lip, however now that I'm running gunmetal wheels, I would like to have the lip returned to CF to accent the color scheme.
Does anyone know the best way to remove automotive paint and clearcoat from this piece without damaging the carbon fiber? Is this something I can do myself from my garage or should I just get this done professionally?
I'm sure it won't cost much to get it done professionally, the problem is I work out of town constantly (3 months at a time sometimes) and only have weekends to get this done...
Ideas?

hm...I've never had to remove paint from a carbon fiber piece. When they applied the paint I assume they sanded down the clear already on the lip? If your as picky as I am with my car parts, I would just get a new one and sell the one you have. I'll do some searching and see if I can find anything about removing paint from CF parts

Thanks fellas.
I'm sure if worse comes to worse I can have the lip stripped by the body shop and re-cleared. It's the Veilside V1 Lip in CF, so its hard to come by to just "buy another one"...
If you get any more info, let me know!

After a little research of my own I found out definitely use "NO SOLVENTS!!!" to remove the paint. It would damage the epoxy and/or weave itself.
So, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do here. I may just purchase the CF center piece from evo-r or courtesdparts and install it over the center of the painted lip. I really only wanted to remove the paint from the center portion. (aka. Part painted, part not...)

i looked at some recent pictures of your car. I know how hard it is to find the veilside lip in CF so i say just leave it painted silver. Take off the the chrome door trim so it'll flow better with the gunmetal rims.
dude to be honest, iono if theyll be able to reverse the paint on that thing. From what i know about painting cf, you have to sand it down (the clearcoat) then shoot the color over it. the paint adheres to that surface and you cant just strip the paint off without jacking the cf prolly. Im not 100% on this tho.

I think I've decided to keep it painted. I may go with some other CF accents such as pillars, oem mirror covers, etc. and just tint the windows...
I may also remove the chrome grill although the chrome grill does kind of accent the chrome lips on the wheel...
Who knows. We'll see...
