Default Painting

I just ordered a replica nismo v.1 front bumper. And I was wondering how much people were charged to have them painted and installed. Thanks for any feedback.

go to www.zcarsofnebraska.com they would be able to answer your question better since they live there, and most of them have had this work done.

Go to a local auto body supply store. They'll be able to match it best.

What do you mean by that's what they do with the 03? And, what would be an example of a place like that?

Dealers do not paint (unless thay have an on-site body shop, which will be no different from any other body shop you go to). Dealers do not make or mix piant, body shops do. You need to find a good body shop in your area, take the part to them and they will know what to do. They will get the paint code off of your car, mix the paint and match the color.

Do you think my dealership would know a good body shop or how would I go about finding the best body shop in my city.

I've never seen a body shop that mixes paint. You need to go to an auto body supply store. This is where shops get paint. Also you won't want to get the paint matched by the code. Bring them the gas cap. They'll match it based on the actual color of the car, not the color the dealership says it has.

True ---Find a good auto Body Supply that handles Dupont or any TOP SHELF Paint---Take a sample like the Gas door and the code and no as far as the Dealer recommending a body shop---They as a rule do only insurrance work and use the cheapest paint they can find or close to it ---Take it to a "Hot Gun" that does custom work

Errr, I dunno about that. I can't see the paint/body shop running out to the supply store to get paint mixed for them to bring back to their booth for every car they fix. As for the match, they need to start with the paint code. From there, they match swatches to your actual car to get it perfect b/c there can several variants for the same paint code. I've watched my paint guy do this in person at the shop; really don't know if they mix the paint there or not, but at any rate, they get the paint. There is no reason for the poster of this thread to go get his own paint mixed and take it to the body shop with him. He wants to get his bumper painted and installed; he needs a body shop. As for finding the right one, yes, you can ask your dealer for a recomendation or go by word of mouth to find a good one. Painting a bumper and putting it on is pretty simple, so you don't have to worry about finding the best shop in town that are experts with body kits/fitting/molding, etc., esp. for a urethane bumper (assuming that is the one you got).

I've worked in one body shop and been around plenty and they all get them from a supply store. Some big, big shops may do their paint in house, but it just isn't efficient. I mean look at a supply store. They sell to body shops all around. Now if a shop mixed their paints they would have to stock all colors in case they had to have a color mixed. Chances are they wouldn't need half of them, but a supply store would have a great chance of using them. Regardless of that you are right about him just taking it to a shop for the reason you listed.

Yeah I got the urethane bumper, so basically I just need to find the place that has a good reputation about painting and I need to make sure they do a good job of matching it. If they don't do a good job or I notice that I dont think it's going to match well will I be able to do anything or am I basically stuck with what they do?

If they're a good reputable shop they won't let it go until it's acceptable. If they let it slip then ask them to fix it. If they don't about all you can do is a little advertising for them.
