*Update*
Parts are in hand; just need a switch for the starter wire (optional) to disable the key from starting the car. I'll prob. start tearing things down this evening and getting a few pics taken to start the write-up (I'll start a new thread). I also made a template today for the hole I'll need to cut in the dash. Just took some stiff cardboard, an exacto knife and some patience.

There's also a little hole in the barrel of the start button that looks like it would accept an LED and if you look in there, the text on the button is translucent (I shined a min-flashlight in it to confirm that it would light), so I might play around with illuminating the button as well with an amber LED to match the rest of the interior lighting. There are two pins onthe switch that are not used... I don't know if the thing has built-in illumination or not (I would assume not, or you'd think the place I bought the kit from would utilize that feature in their instructions and supplied wiring...). I'll have to do a little more research on it.

Can't wait to see the outcome of this project!!! Sounds like you have a firm handle on it.

Yeah I can't wait to see this too. I had done this on my RSX and loved it. I figured it would be cool and since its a honda thing there was some precedent for it. I'm interested on how it will look on a Nissan. As for daily use, I got completely used to starting it with the button, so much so, that it eventually almost felt weird turning the key all the way to start the car.

If you are worried about perfect color match, I have a bunch of old leds from the stock gauge cluster. They are PLCC package. If you want em, I can mail you 5 or more of them to play around with. They would have the exact same wavelength as the rest of the interior lighting.

Here, to tide you over, you guys can have some fun... I took a pic of the button face and made a template to cut out and stick around in the interior to finalize a mounting location. Just print the attached doc, cut it out (it's about perfectly sized), slap a piece of double stick tape on the back and you can see how it'll look in the location of your choice!

You can do this mod for around $50 if you source all the parts separately yourself. I bought a pre-wired kit with everything including instructions and vehicle specific wiring diagram for $72 shipped (I was lazy).

I'll have all the info. in my write-up; don't have time to look it up right now. Just taking a 5 min break. Working on getting my Nismo wing installed right now, then I'll be working on the button install.
