Car cover: yay or nay?
With winter approaching and the fact that I don't have a garage, I've been giving serious thought to buying a car cover.
I've heard differing opinions on this. On one hand, some say that if you can't get a garage, a cover is the next best thing but other people say you could do damage to your car since no matter how soft it is underneath, the wind buffeting the cover may leave microscratches in the paint. Also, a few people say a car cover makes you either look ghetto or really, really ****-retentive.
So what say you, fellow Z lemmings?

I'd use one for sure. In fact, I do. Have taken the car on vacation along with another vehicle. Then cover the car & leave until drive home. No damage from one I use.
Screw what others think. Do what you think is best for your car.

A car cover is no substitute for a garage, but it sure beats leaving your car simply exposed to the elements.
I have had car covers for my last 3 toys. I even kept the 2 MR2s covered even while in the garage. When I had the '91 turbo, the cover went anywhere the car went. If we went to the beach, it was covered when we parked. If we went to the mountians, the cover went on when we stopped for the night.
And if you really believe a car cover could damage the finish, then I suggest you wouldn't ever want to risk washing your car either.

I am garaged challenged as well. I always cover my car primarily to keep the bird &*^% off it. For what ever reason, the car sitting in the driveway attracts bird's and their desire to dump over it. Love the car cover!

How hard is it to put a car cover on your car solo. It looks to be pretty dificult with it being all snug. I have a cover for my motorcycle and it is a pain in the *** to put on.

I think a car cover is essential if you really care about the car. The difference in the resale value of the car 2 or 3 years down the line could be thousands of dollars higher if you truly take care of it, and part of truly taking care of a car as hands-down gorgeous as the Z, is protecting the paint from brutal, unforgiving weather. A car cover is the best way to do this in my opinion - it will keep your car super nice. Its a very, very worthy investment.
By the way, the snow pictures on this thread are awesome.

I bought one since my car is outside all the time.
I have never used it and never will because I know it will put swirl marks in the paint blowing in the wind and I would have to put it on and take it off way too much everyday, which would add even more swirl marks. Plus you will get condensation between the cover and paint that will attract grim which is like sand paper when it flops around in the wind.
For me I'm much better off just keeping the paint clean and waxed. A cover would have nothing but drawbacks, at least for me.
