i believe i saw a post where someone did and then they reinforced the middle bar that goes across so that it wouldn't sag. what's wrong with just painting it black?

Yes, you will need to reinforce the bar in the middle if you cut it out. One guy on the forum had his bodyshop put a metal rod across the middle for reinforcement. You can also just cut out everything in the middle.

i dont want to paint it black because i am very likely going FI soon and I don't want that part to block my intercooler like an eyesore. has anyone cut the entire middle part out?

Never thought about cutting the entire middle out ... that would probably look sick with an intercooler.
