Default 5% Tint!

hey guys, wondering if anyone out there has 5% tint on their Z? right now i have 40% but i dont like it at all, plus i think it would look good, black on black on black with a little chrome, also if the cops harrass you for having it, and if they give you tickets for it about how much is it, and is it overall worth it?

5% is asking for a ticket.

5% is way to dark. I personally would say go with 20% all the way around. That's dark enough and you still may get harassed by the cops.

I would go with no tint at all. This provides perfect visibility for police officers and they never hassle me about anything.

I don't know why everyone is acting like such pansy's about 5%. I've never had an issue with cops about it even when I was pulled over for blowing a cop away on a ramp at 115mph. (oops didn't see him there). This was PA though. Might be a different story in NJ though. It's tough to get used to seeing out of but I def would go any lighter than 25% on any car. Whats the point after that? When driving at night you have to be careful and make sure you're look for headlights when making turns or just put them down momentarily. My gf has driven it at night with no problems. Just be careful and you'll be ok. If you have trouble seeing at night go for the 25% and you'll still look good. All I can say is my new black liberty renegade will be tinted 5% as well.

The ticket question doesn't make much sense; 5% is illegal everywhere, but officers in different parts of the country enforce laws differently, so how can a comparison even be drawn?

Anyway, I have 18% on front and 5% on the rest and love it.

5% and 40%... they're both illegal in most states, so go for the darkest possible

I have 5% and LOVE IT

35 is the darkest you can go here in NC and i have 40 now and dont like it at all, but a question, for the people who do have 5, is it that hard to see out of at night as people say or would 15 be any easier?

I have 15% on all sides and rear....and then put 30% on the front. At night i don't think I would want it much darker(for backing up reasons...driving is fine). But i think it's just dark enough...and i have never been harassed for it...here's some pics...

it's illegal(except for the 6 inches across the top or whatever) but usually if you get a ticket for that...it's cuz they used it as an excuse for pulling you over to test for drunk driving and you WERE drunk or whatever. The tint guy said that when he had 5% on the sides, he got harassed much more than when he went to 15% sides and 30% front. For some reason, they let that slide...here anyways...

I was hella nervous at first, and would always roll my windows down if i saw a cop ahead or coming up on me...but now...just chill...and am fine...

I have 5% on my 2004 and although I love the way it looks, it's definitely hard to see at night. A lot of times when I'm making a turn at a light or somewhere that there might be a median I have to roll my window down to make sure I don't hit anything.
