Default Did you install a spoiler this summer?

If you did make sure you sealed it from the rain.

Found out the hard way today, when I opened the hatch and what seemed like half a gallon of water went rushing all over the area where the rear speakers are

I actually did seal it when I installed it but forgot that a few weeks ago I was trying to get it to fit a little better and put off resealing it back up because the weather was nice, then eventually forgot all about it, until today.

Doh!!!

i just left small gaps so water can drain out

I already knew that water would get in one way or another, it's unavoidable, so i simply created small gaps so they can leak out. Works great so far!

I think he's referring to sealing up the bolt holes in the deck lid to keep water from getting inside the hatch structure.

can't you just place thick o-rings around where the bolt holes would be?

Yes, or just lay a little silicone around the bolt heads.

The spoiler came with sticky back foam doughnuts for the holes but I also used silicone on the bottom side of the bolts as well (hatch interior).

It could also be my wiper mod plug which is not sealed either.

I have some sealing to do.
