Default Aftermarket steering wheel ???

Hey guys, Im looking to possibly get an aftermarket steering wheel. I love the suede feel and look on steering wheels .. like the csl wheel on the M3 for example. I dont want it to look to racey concidering my car is a daily driver. Does anyone know what kind of steering wheel this is. I didnt know if it was Nismo concidering they could have just put that center piece in with any aftermarket wheel. Or does anyone know of any nice steering wheels that look somewhat stock in the center but with with suede handles ?? Thanks guys.

honestly, not a smart thing to do for a daily driver. front end collision with no airbag can be a pretty messy cleanup for the EMS. show cars and race cars, go for it.

Yeah if you are short, but when you're tall like me a airbag will hurt you rather than save you. My buddy crashed his 04 Z, and the airbag caused bruising and some minor burns. The paramedic agreed and said the airbag isn't always going to save you, it might hurt you.

I would choose bruising and burns over my jaw in a ziplock baggie any day. But if you really must have one, I have the Momo fighter and love it. Matches well with the interior, feels great, but its not suede.

Can you "unplug" the airbag & cruise-control, or are these items permanently severed when you install a new steering wheel?

consider if your insurance company might waive your medical coverage if you got in an accident and were hurt because you removed a piece of safety equipment that directly has an impact on the safety ratings for the 350Z.

It's like if you weren't wearing your seatbelt, you might be screwed by insurance as well

Not true. First you have to make sure that your harnesses are mounted properly and at the correct angle to you specifically. To get that, you will need racing seats and at least a harness bar. Then you really need a HANS device to be completely safe on impact, and to wear that, you need a helmet. Then there is the issue of rolling over. If you have seats and harnesses, you will greatly increase your risk of death in a rollover. So now you need a roll bar. Once you have the rollbar, now that becomes a threat to you unless you have good padding and again, a helmet.

So unless you plan on buying a roll bar, seats, harnesses, and plan on driving around town with a helmet and HANS device on, you will never be safer than the OEM belts and an airbag.

I am sure there are some instances where an airbag can cause more damage than harnesses, but when it comes to life and death, the best deal for the street is the OEM setup.
