I installed clear sidemarkers this weekend and think it still looks off because of the ambers in the headlight assembly. Anyone here know of a kit to replace these with clears?

I had no amber on my 996 or my M3 and never had any issues with the local police. I'm pretty sure they(local police) are not up on DOT specs anyway. I just want the damn amber gone, it looks like crap.

yea I hear ya. I haven't had a front license plate on a car in years and they are required here in TX. Been pulled over a couple times and never been hassled about it. I always cross my fingers that the cops will be cool.
Does anyone have the shop manual that could look up how to take apart the headlight assembly? I will be the guinnea pig if someone will post the instructions on how to take it apart.

We had a lengthy discussion about this on the S2k website. I researched California law and found that the amber requirement was only for the rear turn signals. Of course that law may have changed, but I've had clear headlights and side markers on my silver S2000 since I first got it and never been hassled, although I did get a ticket for no front license plate.
I've been thinking of calling Generation One in Anaheim to see if they're still in business and can/will do the same for my DB Z. (They charged something like $140 to rerplace the amber strips in the S2k headlights--took them about 4-1/2 hours.) That amber really looks ugly IMO, at least on the DB car.

im trying to convince a friend of mine to do it for the 350z's... hes the guy that currently does it for the s2000's (jdm and smoked diffusers).
if i can get some time, ill have him do the test on my car (remove the amber strip and send it off to be duplicated in clear/smoke/whatever color ), and if it's profitable he could end up producing them.
the actual labor of taking apart the lense is pretty easy. - you bake it in the oven for about an hour
(no i'm not joking)

I called Generation 1 to ask them if they were going to be clearing Z headlights. They didn't think so. The headlight housing is larger than the S2k's and they don't know how to get it off or if a clear version of the amber strip is available. Believe me, it's a PIA to do it yourself (some did on the S2k), so I'm not going to try it.
Anybody have any thoughts about another SoCal source for this?
