Default what to do

someone keyed my car a few months back on my drivers side door, i did not have the time or money to get it repaired at the time and now it has started to rust. WHat are my options, can i grind out the rust and get the door repainted, or what. I do not know a whole lot about rust and how to repair this.

also, what kind of urgency is there, because i drive my car 90 miles every day adn with the weather the way it is here in indiana, i might just wait until spring to get it repaired so the new paint is not exposed to the salt right away.

If there is rust, I'd get it taken care of ASAP. The longer you wait, the worse it will get and possibly more it will cost to fix.

^ +1. Right now, you've probably just got a little surface rust that'll be no problem and should cost no more to take care of. You don't want to let it go a long time, though. In the future, if you get a scratch like that and can't get it fixed right for a while, just get a bottle of touch-up paint to fill the scratch; this will seal the metal and prevent the rust.

i suggest letting the body shop repair it now that it has rusted...you don't want to do something and make it worse costing you more money in the future. let them give you an estimate...
