2003 350Z interior Lighting
The interior lights stopped working in my car. I checked all the obvious things ie fuses, doors, bulbs. I can't get them to work. I am new to this board and wonder if there is something I am missing or do I have to take it to a dealer. Ther is only 5,000 mile on it.
Would appreciate some help.
thankyou,

Yes, I checked everything. Lights in the back cargo area work. SInce I bought the car over 3 years ago I think my warranty is over. The car sits in my garage covered. I was thinking it had something to do with the timer that dims the interior lights slowly when you shut the door since I can't find anything else.

When spot lamp switch is in DOOR position, spot lamp ON/OFF is controlled by timer according to signals
from switches including key switch, front door switch driver side and assist side, unlock and lock signal from
key fob, door lock and unlock switch, key cylinder lock and unlock switch, ignition switch.
When spot lamp turns ON, there is a gradual brightening over 1 second. When spot lamp turns OFF, there is a
gradual dimming over 1 second.
The spot lamp timer is controlled by the BCM.
Spot lamp timer control settings can be changed with CONSULT-II.
If the interior light never comes on check that you don't have the light switch in the never on position - and then check your ground connection behind the multi-purpose gauge in the three gauge cluster above the radio.

Hey Paul 350,
Thanks for taking the time to try and help me. Went down to the car and checked switch and it is in the proper position. The next thing I guess I need to check is the ground behind the multi-purpose guage. How do I go about getting behind it.
If I ran a ground wire to one end of one of the bulbs and the other end of the bulb to one of the contacts would prove out the ground or not.
Not to be funny , but on the basis of the last question should I just take it to the dealer and screw up my otherwise pristine car? Sometimes I know just enough to do damage.
thanks again,
Bob A.

i might be wrong but, isnt there a screw that goes in the switch/button that make ur interior lights turn on and off when the interior switch is on the door position......Tint shops usually take out that screw to put on tints so the windows dont go up and down whenever u shut the door.....Maybe that has something to do with it? if u dont get wat i am sayimng i will take pics for you tomorrow.
