Default Installing Stock OEM Spoiler

Quick question for you guys. Would it be ok to just use double sided tape to install the stock OEM spoiler without drilling and using the bolts. Thx.

You should be fine with the stock spoiler since there's such a large area to apply it to. Just be sure to get some good 3m brand grey tape and run it around the whole edge that it does stock.

Tape will be fine on small, lip spoilers like the OEM one. Just make sure the surfaces are cleaned and prepped well, so it sticks good.

but if you buy a real oem spoiler it comes with these 2 plastic prongs you have to cut off if you dont want to drill holes. i think the OEM style spoilers are flat on the bottom.(neve seen the bottom of one in person though)

They're hollowed out.

Yeah. The sides are about 3/8" thick and then it's hollow.

The OEM spoiler does come preinstalled with tape, and it's designed that you can position the spoiler on the car, and pull the masking off by the tabs... making positioning not a lucky chance thing to get it even.

And yes, you have to cut two protruding screws, the other 2 screws, can just be slid off.

I have pics of the undereside of a new OEM spoiler for those that are interested.

I just used the double sided tape that comes preinstalled on the spoiler. It also comes with stronger shocks.

Here's some pics of what it looks like underneath:

Notice that the tape has tabs that allow you to pull the plastic sheet off with your spoiler in position on your hatch. Just position the spoiler on the hatch and make sure the tabs sticks out so you can pull it off while the spoiler is on the hatch, in proper position. Do not pull off the protective sheet without the spoiler on the hatch... imagine if you screw up positioning when you try and get the spoiler on. The black screws that stick out on the ends have to be dremeled/cut off, then filed down. The white things in the middle part of the spoiler can be slid right off. Use a thin sheet of something... mayble like those round felt/rubber feet for desktop items that prevent marring of furniture/desks on those pieces of metal so it doesn't scratch your hatch. You definitely want to put a barrier in between the metal on the spoiler and your hatch.
