Default how long to wait for clearbra on freshly painted bumper?

i'm getting conflicting information. my body shop said 3 days. the insurance adjuster said i should wait a month or the clearbra will look cloudy. i'd rather wait than rush it, but if the adjuster's telling me some BS, why wait? the clearbra either has to be put on before march 14 or after april 12 (shop's closing while the familiy takes a vacation).

let me know your experiences/advice. thanks!

You need to wait a pretty good while for the same reason you can't use many waxes soon after a paint job. The clear has to cure up good. If you trap the solvents it will look cloudy.

No problem. Has the bumper already been painted? If not see if you can have them paint it with PPG DC3000 or an equivalent. It's a faster curing clear.

Nope. It's just a type of clear designed for panel painting (only a fender, only a bumper cover, etc.) They won't have to spend as much time in the booth either since the flash time is short.

Had the same situation and was told by the clearbra installer to wait 4 -5 weeks. Keeping the car in the garage for a month can get kind of annoying but it's not worth the grief if you ding it before the clearbra is on.

That's going to suck. The G will feel that much faster when you start driving it again though.

4-5 weeks is ok as long as your car sees plenty of sun. If you are going to garage it, you will need to wait longer.

I had the #M clear bra put on the day after the front bumber was repainted --looked great then and 3 months later still looks good . I didn't know any better but I did ask the painter before so maybe he used a special clear coat or something.

you need to wait a little longer. Direct sunlight is best actually. There are solvents that need to evaporate throught the clear. You can wax a freshly painted car, as long as you use a glaze or pure carnuba. Key is something that let's the vapors escape. I have done a few people here in Florida and I tell them 5 weeks, and put it out in the sun as much as you can. my .02

Nope you just got lucky, if that is indeed true.

Well actually you probably could if they bake the paint, but very seldom will a shop be able to afford the equipment.
